The Heart Walk event is November 6th this year in Atlanta. I am division leader for Emory Crawford Long Hospital (one of the leaders in the country for Cardiac Services (in the top ten)) Yeah, in my real life I am Nurse!! All of the funds will go directly to the American Heart Association for prevention of heart disease and stroke! If anybody that is not attending is interested in donating please e-mail me. What is the American Heart Walk?

This important event focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by raising money to support heart and stroke research and heart-healthy lifestyle programming. Last year, the Southeast Affiliate American Heart Walks raised more than $7.9 million that funded lifesaving research and educational programs in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. Our goal this year is nearly $10 million and with your help, we can do it!
American Heart Walks are perfect for people of all ages! They?re non-competitive, 5K-10K walks that combine exercise, fresh air, prizes and fun for the whole family. Some walks even include a festival that features great food, health screenings, prizes and local athletes and entertainment.

Heart disease is the number one killer in your city, your county, your state, and the United States. Last year, heart disease and stroke killed more than 90,000 people in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Cardiovascular diseases claim more lives than the next 6 leading causes of death combined

I'll be glad to chip in. I believe very strongly that any club or fraternity strengthens itself in many ways when it becomes affiliated with charity work. Kinda gives the organization more purpose. Mainly though, it's a unifying thing that winds up being lots of fun. I would love to see a charity selected by CAFCNA, or by any one of the regions to support. I know I can't make every GTG, especially at distant sites, but I can paypal a few bucks to the coordinator and participate that way. If enough people participate that way, we could get some really positive recognition. Maybe we can talk some more about it at the GTG.

Wv, can you set up a PayPal account for these donations, and maybe coodinate a local rep to receive a check from the club.
Might be a good way to get some local tv/radio exposuse as well.
