While down in S Jersey this weekend I had to visit the local Toms River Home Depot in search of a new gas grill...got the gas grill but what came next was unexpected.....

While loading the grill into the bed of the Av..which I might add fit perfectly with panel 3 removed and stowed away nicely...little by little I started forming a group of curious shoppers who were amazed by this trucks versatility and good looks..

Slowly even the employees from the seasonal dept. were asking if any help was required just to sneak a closer look....Needless to say it turned into a very long drawn out Change....We managed to make it out in one piece though.. ;)

I know what you mean, coming out of the 7-11 ywo days ago a couple of women just stared at my red Av until I left. But I live in the California Bay area and haven't seen another one like my Z-71. Maybe they're more popular in certain areas

i get people driving down the road pointing at me, you can usually see them saying "thats one of them avalanches". the look of envy on their faces is the best

This is ironic. I was up in NJ visiting my family (Princeton) two weeks ago and needed to go to the local Home Depot. A similar thing happened to me. I was loading 4X8 sheets of plywood with the midgate down. From the side, the wood looked like it was disappearing into the bed of the truck. After loading the second sheet, I noticed 4-5 people behind me all wanting to see how I fit a full sheet of plywood into the back of a pick-up.

It made for interesting conversation. All compliments. I always get the most looks and compliments at home improvment store parking lots or loading areas. I love watching the guys with the big Ford diesels load 8 foot lumber and have it hanging out their tailgate. I smile at them as I close my tailgate with the lumber inside protected from the elements. ;)

I also have had the same experience while buying a shed for our backyard. A 10' x 12' steel building. Comes in a box about 5' H x 3' W and 6" D. Floor kit consisted of 4- 4x8 sheets of green-treated plywood. As you stated, the wood was simply swallowed up by the Av. I also left the hard covers on. A few people did walk by to check it out. I actually had to lock the truck as I was helping the guy get the plywood - about 100 feet from where I had to park. When I came back after the first piece was in, there was a guy looking in the rear driver's side door checking it out. I'm all for showing off, but only when I'm there!

Toms River is south Jersey? Naahhhhhh. That's central NJ. South Jersey is from Atlantic City down to Wildwood!

That's like when I used to live in Westchester County, which is the county north of the Bronx in NY City. As you exit NYC going north, immediately all the highway signs say "Upstate New York". To me, upstate NY was 5 hours from NYC up near the Canadian border where I went to college.

So I guess everything is "relative" then! ;D

Hey truckman - I work about a mile from the Home Depot in Princeton!

It really pisses me off when they mark up the glass with their noses or fingers. :7:

Last month, I picked up a new 412 speaker cabinet at my local mega-music equipment store. It really only takes two people to load it into the truck.

So, after I closed the deal, the salesguy told me to pull up front and we would load it in the Av. I pull up front. Then, the next thing I know my salesman and 6 others pop out the door to "help load" the cabinet. I got a few questions like "How easy is it to convert?", etc. The Av got lots of oogling looks while we were loading.
