I'm about finished with my interior updating, but I have one last thing I'd like to accomplish. I'm looking for either a single din or double din unit that I can connect my galaxy s6 lite tablet through the USB to play audio. I know I can use the 3.5mm Jack or bluetooth or 3.5 to rca audio in. I don't want to use any of those options. I'd like to go USB-C to USB. I know previously android users could use AOAv2 to achieve this until Google disabled it. That being said, anyone know of a unit I can run my tablet through?

I guess I should clarify, I'm not meaning music files, I mean sound running from apps like YouTube, Netflix, prime video, etc.

I'm not 100% certain but I think you'd need to mirror the phone. They're are plenty of vids on you tube on how to do it. Also the head unit must support mirroring.
Kenwood has some quality units with that feature but grab whatever your ears like.

Edit: added link

Shows that mirroring does audio as well as video.

Thank you, tacocat. I've looked at some of the kenwood decks, and that's why I was asking. It seems like they're the only ones that can do this unless you go to super high end decks. I bought an Atoto double din unit off Amazon. It said it mirrored, and it did say you could run audio off your android device through USB. That all might be true, but after I received the unit all of that only worked if you were running android 8 or lower. I sent it back. I guess that's what you get for a "top of the line" $300 Chinese deck. Google needs to get their crap together and come up with an interface like apple has. It would be a lot easier if I had apple products.

As mentioned many times in older threads, you should contact customer service at www.crutchfield.com since they have updated many AVs and can help you select the right head unit to meet your needs as well as all adapters etc.

Well, boys... I had to turn to the dark side. New JVC deck and a freaking ipad. It does exactly what I wanted the android tablet to do, however. Now I read android auto is getting a major update. Oh well. I now have both tablets...... Now to pull the trim again and hide the lightning cable. 20210610_171400.jpg

Let me add, all of this audio/video was done for my 2yo son. Pretty much, anyway. Haha! We're going on vacation next month and he likes his firetruck and train videos.

60 degrees. Boy you like it chilly. 😂

Glad the i-Pad is working for you. 👍

Same here.

I set the auto a/c on my EXT as low as it will go and let it figure out how to get there.

:ROFLMAO:

My ac knob has been set to 72-74 since about 2003 once I figured out it does a great job of getting cold fast on its own and then throttling down once it is close to what I want.

When my twins were younger the Kenwood kept them busy enough with a USB key stuffed with Disney vids. (Lazy way out)

The a/c in that thing is one of its greatest joys!!! It gets so cold in there sweat or condensation, or whatever you want to call it, will run down the back windows. That's not an exaggeration. It's cold. And I'm a fairly big guy, I sweat in the southwest Missouri humidity! Its been in the low 90s with 8000% humidity for the last week. It's the best a/c unit I've ever had in a car, I'll say that. My other car isn't close.

Man, I can relate. Cincinnati has felt like a tropical rain forest the past week or two. Should finally get some relief this week

Try South Florida, it makes your 8000% humidity seem like a freezer. Some days I carry sponges to sop up my children as the melt before reaching the truck. 😂
