Sup guys!
I'm looking to buy an '02 or '03 Avalanche with the cladding. What price should I be looking at? I dont have '04 money or I would be looking at a new one.

Also, any common problems you guys are having with the Avalanches?

Anyways, I just love these trucks and I will be purchasing one in the next few months. Looking forward to learning some new stuff from you guys.

Thanks!

Depends on which model you're looking for. They have base 2WD, 4WD, Z66, Z71 and NF. I've seen people get them for as low as about 15k but most seem to be in the low to mid 20's right now.

Good luck and welcome to the club (y)

i picked up my 02, 7 months ago in grand prarie, TX for 19k with 27,000 miles. thats about average. have had no problems so far, don't expect any either, and i love it. it rides better than my wife's yukon, and has enough power to satisfy even a "lead foot's" everyday driving habits, (with a few mods).

I would recommend checking the For Sale sections on this forum. Usually there are a few people that are forced for one reason or another to get rid of their ride. Generally the people on this board are very interested in their rides and like to mod them, so you may find one there dressed up the way you want it.

Another resource would be ebay..and I don't think I could buy one on there, but it'd be a good place to start looking and gathering specs that you'll want. As said above, 4x4, z66, z71, whatever..

Good luck in your search, and glad to have you aboard!

thanks for the responses guys...

Ive been checking out ebay and autotrader so far. It seems like in the ATL area the prices are a little high, especially for the color I want (black). It seems like you can get a white one for pretty cheap for some reason.

I''m headed to a dealership right now!
;D

ImpalaSS welcome to the board ;)

Let us know what you buy.

I suggest looking EVERYwhere for an Av, in order to get the best price. Dealerships and individual owners post on autotrader.com. This is how my sister and I each found the Avs we were looking for. Oddly, both ended up being in Florida. ??? Well worth the trip south for the $$ we saved -- both were low mileage in the low $20's.

Good luck with the search!

You may wish to try CarMax.com for one. They usually have several available and there's an outlet in the Atlanta area.

What he said, and seating can make a difference. New there is a pretty big jump in price to go to leather seating, so the full leather package with dual power seats and controls is going to run you more.
I have the cloth 40/20/40 front. I wanted to be able to put 3 people in the front when needed. In another year or so I suspect I'll put a leather package from Katzkins or some other outfit.

Welcome and have fun.

Sparky, funny you should say something about the leather.. i am an authorized Katzkin dealer. I am an asst. manager at a leather/sunroof/video/audio/etc shop and I can get all that. We do a TON of avalanches. I think Im gonna go with the buckets in front just because I like the console so much. Alot of A/V options with it. But I feel ya on being able to put more people in the front. BTW, NICE RIDE!

mshagan, I saw that one too, it had 84k miles! No thanks, not for $20Gs! I think they had an 03 for 28G's also, I have a contact at Tom Jumper, so Im gonna go there first...

Also, I dont wanna sound stupid, but what is the difference between " base 2WD, 4WD, Z66, Z71 and NF."

I know what 2wd, 4wd and North Face is, but what is the difference between the 66 and 71?

Also, what city gas mileage is everyone getting? MY SS is kinda modded and my gas mileage sucks, so I guess as long as its not alot worse than my ride, I'm good.

Z66 is 2 wheel drive with traction control, Z71 is 4wheel drive. Both have locking rear differentials, both upgrade to 17 inch wheels compared to the base models 16 inch, and both have different shocks and such to give a little better ride than base models. I think that's right

A Little update, went to the dealership today looking at '02 Lanches. Ended up driving an 04. Come to find out with my Grandpa working at GM for 30 years I can get the truck for 5% under invoice plus $4500 in rebates. Sticker price for the 04 Z66 with cladding; $38,000 plus tax, my price $29,000 with tax. Not a bad deal. A little higher than I planned on but I think I might have to make it work.
