Antenna Wrench, Standard Or Accident?

In another thread there was a comment about a possible antenna rattle that reminded me about this antenna wrench that was in the glove box of my AV when I picked it up. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be in all AVs, if it was added at some date, or if it's just a mistake that someone at the factory left in there by accident.

It's a bright orange plastic "wing-nut" looking thing that has a hexagonal hole in the middle of it. Slide the whole thing over the top of your antenna and down to the bottom and you have a quick and easy way to tighten or remove your antenna.

Does everyone have one of these or did I get lucky?

it's there for automatic car wash purposes, makes quick removal easier. We all got it, at least in 2002, unless dealer filched it beofre delivery.

hey txavy, as far as I know they're suppost to come with all chevys that have this same type of antenna. I had one in my glove box too and when I was picking my truck up, I was walking thru the lot with my girlfriends father/my salesman and found one on the ground next to a malibu and he said it most likely fell out of that car.
It worked good the one time I used it to remove the antenna, since I replaced it with a stubby sport one.

Nope, you didn't get lucky. I think this is found in all glove compartments.

Here is a pic if this is what you mean....

My glove compartment also has an extra 7 pin trailer connector as the pic clearly shows :)

HEY... I didn't get one :8:

I did get the trailer wiring harness.

But since I don't use automatic car washes I guess it doesn't matter. Even when I did use them I never took off my antenna.

The more I think about it the more I think I need one. We have a camp and this summer I will be getting a cover for the Av. It might be nice to take off the antenna before covering it. Prior trucks I have cut a hole for the antenna.

Maybe I'll have to mention this to the dealer.

Yep, the little orange plastic thingy comes on every antenna before they are installed on the vehicles.
the antenna is installed by the dealer and is part of the pdi.. Most dealers chuck them however it would be great if all dealers simply chucked them in the glove box.
Mine came without

What a crock! I didn't get one either. I'm gonna see if I can get one when they fix my bumper.
