Any lowering questions. Step in here...

I'm installing a [2/3 drop spindles/springs, no air ride ].
After looking at pictures, I want to go 4" in rear.
IS the ONLY way possible is to get 4" lowering springs? OR can I use the 3" I have and do something else?

Thanks

I installed a McGauheys 2/3 lowering kit on my 2007 Avalanche LTZ 2WD with Autoride.  Looks great, ride is good also.  However, on low speed turns the traction control warning light on the dash is activating and a slight chatter in the inside wheel is noticed (inside meaning the wheel on the inside of the turn, right turn right front wheel).  Also installed 22 inch MKW wheels with 285/45 -22 Nitto S420 tires, but this was occuring with the stock 20 inch wheels it seems to happen more often with the 22s.  I have noticed that when disabling the Stabilitrak this does not occur or is definitely minimized.  Is teh cause of this isuue the use of drop spindles or is it the Autoride system?  Have you experienced this with the BellTech kits that also use drop spindle?  I have checked the ABS sensors in the wheel hub also, all good there.  Please advise.  Thanx.

I plan on lowering the Av a little to smooth it out and I am looking at going with a 3/4 Belltech kit.  It's a 2013 Topaz Blue 4WD LTZ.

I've been doing a lot of searching and have yet to find a good answer to my question.  A lot of people seem to recommend only a 2" front drop with 4WD and autoride.  Is it possible to do a 3" front drop (2" spindle & 1" spring) without causing a whole bunch of problems such as illuminating the suspension light or adverse ride quality???

I've heard of it being done a few times but it seems like most people say to just stick with 2" spindles up front.

The person I spoke with at Belltech says that it can be done with 3" but it might activate the autoride so he recommends 2" instead.

Any thoughts on this?

With a 3" front drop you might also have alignment issues but i think that Belltech has a solution for this. Please post pictures when done!

I should probably also mention I would rather go with coils instead of modified struts...

I will definitely post pics when done!   (y)

Do you think the extra inch will mess up the autoride?

Coils on a 2013? not sure how to do that.........Belltech sells adjustable struts + a 2" drop spindle.

Coil over shocks, guess they are just replacing those coils and the mount spacers.

Been lowering these trucks since late 99 and if you have any questions just ask.  Ive done from 2 inch rear drop only all the way to my 3/5+ kits.  I'm always around to help 24/7

I have an 04 Avalanche with the stock suspension. I want to lower it 2/3. I see some kits with rear springs and torsion keys and some kits with rear springs and dropped spindles. Is the ride the quality the same? Also will the spare tire and exhaust be affected?

Ok. Guys time to dig deep. I am not the best mechanically but can hold my owm if needed. (And if a youtube video is available.
I have a 2003 Cladded AV with a procomp 6" lift and 35" tires on 20" rims. I have done all I want to my Av and was concidering trading her in. But then I thought. Why dont I just start over.
Here is what I want to do.
I want to replace the lift with airbags so I can drive at normal/stock height but lower it when I want. What is it going to take? I know I will have to take the lift off. But... Any help would be appreciated.

X2 I have a new to me something 08 with a 6.2 6l80 with AWD I want to drop it 2 inches. Plus loose the 22 chrome wheels

06 Regency Z66, would like to level out the truck, preferably just the rear and not have to change out shocks. Something that won't break the bank. Thanks man.

I wish I had found this thread before I ordered a 2/4 drop kit for a 2004 Z66 that currently sits like a stink bug. I ordered it about 20 minutes ago.
I'm beginning to wonder if someone put overload springs on the rear because of the rake it has.
Are coil over springs on the rear shocks factory?
From the ground to the rear wheelwell opening it's 35"

Almost sounds to me like the rear is lowered already.  The stock tires are 31" tall, that leaves only 4" of headroom travel.  You'll likely bottom out the jouncy bumps on the axle before you eat up that 4".

And  :welcome:  to the club.

Hey, thanks.
The truck is sitting on later model 20" silverado wheels and 275/55/20 tires and sits higher than others I see around town. The gap from the top of the tire to the wheel well is huge.
I'd post a pic if I knew how.

NORCAL SS, are you still monitoring this thread?  I'm new on this forum, and just bought my 2008 Avalanche about a week ago.  I had a 97 GMC truck for 13 years that was lowered and I loved it.  I would have kept it forever, but a 16 year old girl lost control and hit me head-on 3 years ago totaling my truck.  Since then, I've had a 2007 Suburban that I just sold today.  I always wanted to lower it, but couldn't justify it with my wife.  Now, I'll have some money leftover from the sale, and want to lower my "new" Avalanche.  It sounds like you're the guy to ask for advice, and possibly buy the kit from.

My Avalanche is 4WD, LTZ with aftermarket 20 inch wheels.  I will probably eventually change the wheels as these are starting to pit, but I will most likely stick with 20's.  I actually powder-coated my black Suburban wheels black and it looked great, but I don't know if I would like the black wheels as much on my white Avalanche.  Do you have instructions, advice, or sell a kit to bring my Avalanche down 2/3?  I would post pictures, but I don't see a option for that.  I probably need to be on here longer.

Thanks, John

I think you can find him at this site www.tbssowners.com
