Started out from the dirt road "West Side Hwy" in Death Vally (first turn off to the west heading north), then it heads up a fast graded fire road to some old mines, then starts to narrow up once you're in the mountains. Following that, it opens up into a nice big valley right in the middle of the Panamint Range. Crazy because there are two houses up there, one pretty big. We then headed over to Mengel Pass. There the road climbs a bit more and becomes quite technical. A bit of rock crawling in 4-Low. Probably just on the edge of what and AVy can do. Really great for a jeep or something. Lot's of fun, though. Then the road starts to head down on the west side of the range and it takes you through the amazing Coyote Canyon, passing a few springs and some more mines along the way. Very narrow with sheer walls in places. Quite impressive. Finally dropping you out in the Panamint Valley, where we headed north on a very fast dirt road passing a huge mine on the left.

Really a great run. Not sure how long it took us in total, as we stopped a few times. But, a great way to head west without taking paved roads!

Quite sure Magic Mtn Man has been on that road. Remember him talking about having done a trip. Maybe a few other members have done the trail aslo.
