I was tearing down the freeway at speeds that I won't mention here the other day when everything decided to stop. And I mean stop suddenly. So I stomped hard on my brakes and I hear the sound of screeching tires. My tires. All of a suddenly my ABS light comes on the dash as well as the parking brake light. :7: :7: :7: Now as I drive around the ABS light stays on and the parking brake light flashes every now and then.

I talked to a buddy of mine who is a mechanic at a dealership and he tells me my ABS module has gone bad.

I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I had a problem with my 2000 Sonoma that at low speeds.... 15-20mph when I would try and stop at a stop sign/light... my ABS would turn on thinking the wheels were locked up and the truck would be nearly impossible to stop.

It got to the point where I'd have to hit the brakes before I got to the stop sign/light to see if I was going to be able to stop or not so I would have some time to mash on the brake pedal.

I took it in about 3 or 4 times and they kept saying nothing was wrong until on the last time they suddenly needed to keep it for two days and they said nothing was wrong with it of course, but it never happened again.

Guess things like that can fail just like anything else can, but I can understand how terrifying it can be.

Having the ABS and/or brake lights come on during a hard stop or a long stop (ie talking with a neighbor) is acceptable. Having them STAY on is not. Hit the blue OnStar button and let them do a remote diagnostic. It'll tell you whether you need to see the dealer ASAP or if it can wait.

Good Luck!
