So in my quest for a low budget exhaust upgrade I found a guy selling headers off his 2007 escalade with cats and y pipe for $700. Based on research the basic chassis isn't much different. I'm thinking for that price I should try it. Just wondering if anybody here has a better answer? And if for that price would anybody else try it, lol.

All you need is the headers..... so why pay for those parts you already have?

so I would pass or ask him to split it up...

All based on if they will fit.

I just installed headers and true dual exhaust from Speed Engineering.  Kit is configured like a stock exhaust with the exhaust plumbing from the driver side crossing over to the passenger side much like a y-pipe would.  This kit works for both the older trucks and the newer ones, but they include two bent sections of piping where the driver side turns towards the passenger side and you only need one of them, depending upon if you are doing an older or newer truck.  So based upon that, I'd guess that the y-pipe for the newer truck wouldn't work without a pretty good amount of modification.

Yea, I guess it wouldn't be cost effective if I had to modify the y pipe. Maybe I'll hold off on headers till i swap the 6.0 in. In the mean time tho I do need to do something with the cats. Even after fixing the loose heat shields they're still rattling. The reason I'm sure they are similar tho is cause when I was looking to upgrade the exhaust on an 08 duramax I used to have I found several diesel guys that said the exhaust systems were interchangeable with only minor modification to the hangers.

From 2007,the 900 series got the rack and pinion,so there may be an issue there..from the engine and back, there should be the same sort of.
