Anyone buy Av's from auctions?

I have a friend that has bought, repaired and resold a mini-bike and a 4-wheeler through copart.com. Worked out well for him. I hope you find what you're after.

I purchased my 2013 Av from a Chevy dealer that was pretty much only selling used cars last year since new ones were in short supply. I found out while there that the dealer purchased this truck at an auction. Not many trade ins so I guess this would be one way for a dealership to get vehicles to sell. This truck was soo clean and gently used I kept wondering how it got to an auction. I started asking more questions and looked it over even closer. One owner, no accidents (I saw the Carfax report and some service history) and only light rust areas on just the bottom side of the frame behind the rear wheels. Nothing new/replaced with the suspension or with anything underneath, has everything it came with from the factory. Normal amount of stone chips where you would expect them behind each wheel, front bumper and front of the hood (indicating no new panels or paint) and it has OEM glass. Clean inside and not just a clean like from a quick detail job. Someone took very good care of this truck.
Finally to my point! I knew there were some good vehicles to be had at an auction but I sort of thought the auctions typically had vehicles with issues or from a dealer trade-in that they didn't want to resell. Looks like there are some good vehicles at an auction if your timing and luck are good. Good luck finding your second Av!

After I bought the last several dealer purchased vehicles, I did some back tracing on each of their histories.

Every one of them, regardless of the dealership, had at one time or another been in the auction system.

My wife's CTS had started out as a rental car up on the upper east coast and had surfed through the mid-west and southeast auction circuit before it landed here in central Arkansas.

It moved from auction to auction.

Surprisingly, the car was rust free.

The engine was a turd, but the car was not rusty.

I guess we were lucky it entered the system with only 30K miles on it.

Interesting. My back tracing, partially thanks to the owner not clearing out any saved Nav/GPS or phone history, home was NE Indiana, there was a lake house, he probably towed a boat (lake house) judging from some gouges on the bumper near the trailer hitch, and it had saved routes to Chicago (business?). It went to auction somewhere in Indiana (VIN internet search) and I purchased at a Chevy dealership in Indianapolis with 94K on the odometer. Final home is now west of Chicago. I've gotten obsessed with this truck!!
