I was wondering if anyone was running a 3-way component system in the front doors of their Av. I am currently running an older Kicker Resolution 6.5 component set in the front and I am dismayed by its lack of midbass output. The set I have is from the year before they went to the metal deposit cones. Anyway, I bought a kicker 4" resolution midrange off of ebay yesterday and I plan to get a Kicker 6.5 midbass to pair with it. I plan to hook the 4" up with my current R25 tweeter and crossover and run that with 50W per side. Then I want to use the other currently untapped channels of my amp to run the midbass speakers with 50W each. Does anyone have any ideas for mounting a 6.5 midbass, a 4" midrange, and a 1" tweeter in the doors? I would like to be able to do it without permantently damaging the doors so I could put the old crappy stereo back when I resell it, but I also want it to look and sound it best. Any ideas are appreciated.
I am also tossing around the idea of buiilding a completely new crossover for the 3-way system so that I could present two 4-ohm loads to the 4 channel amp. That way I could get 200W x 2 instead of 50x4. But I dont know if sound quality would suffer at the lower impedence. Thanks!
