Anyone have soft pedal on 04. Dealer says nothing wrong

Here is a link to a thread where there is some discussion about a soft gas pedal.

Hope this helps.

check in recal section of the main problem section

there is recall on some 2003 and 2004 for a problem within master cylinder where a o ring leaks and causes mushy pedal

My brake pedal is fine...not like yours..
If your talking about the 'parking' brake pedal..aka emergency brake.. that will jam to the floor if you stomp on it.. its not
like the parking brake pedals on older vehicles..

I just had my 2004 1500 Z71 to the dealer for this problem last week. They said nothing wrong. Do you know of any TSB's or recalls on this?

Ditto, I drove another Z71 at the dealership and the brakes worked really well, mine feel like there are no rear brakes :E: :E: :E:
the 15A guy said "all trucks are different, this one is HEAVY" :8:
Think I'm gonna bring it back again, over and over, till its fixed :C:

I read somewhere that in '03 chevrolet changed the "feel" of the brakes on the Avalanche vs the '02 models. I have a new '04 and the brakes feel fine. They certainly don't go to the floor.

Not an 04 but...I did the 30k service on my 02 yesterday and the mushy brake pedal problem I was having was gone. I added a K&N filter to the stock box is all. It seems the dealership during their "inspection" saw fit to blow the existing air filter out (looked to be the factory stock Delco) and put it back in. Pedal mush is gone and she breathes like a champ. :) ;D

When you buy the Fram AirHog, they give you a decal for the window and one for the airbox to alert these retards to the fact that your airfilter should not be thrown away and require a special cleaning and recharging!!

My 02 AV has a spongy pedal feel even after doing a complete brake job ie. 4 new pads + draining old fluid replacing with new!!!! ??? ??? ??? :8: :8: :8: :8:

I was also going to mention that my brakes feel mushy and goes down pretty far before they bite, I just thought they all did the same?
performance could better, thought about rebleeding the lines but it appears that is not the case? I don't think I got a leak anywhere doesn't lose brake fluid.

2002 Z-71

I wondering if SS lines might help perhaps the rubber lines are expanding?

Assuming the master cylinder is full of fluid, no air in the line and the calipers and pads are in good shape, the "soft" pedal is pretty much standard. The reason is that the brake bias control applies the rear brakes just slightly ahead of the fronts. As you apply pressure the abs equalizes everything and you stop just fine. The glitch in the system is when the rear brakes wear and get out of adjustment. Then the pedal gets softer. The fix is easy. Just apply the parking brake everytime you exit the truck. While disc brakes are pretty much self adjusting, the parking brake application just kind of tweaks the rears by resetting the proper clearance between pads and rotors.

my Av has about 5000 miles and the brakes feel like jello. i thought of mentioning this to the dealer but assumed all Av's were this way. AFter driving multiple other AV's on the lot, i know that mine has an issue. i will have them look into it.
