anyone use ForScan to disable AFM at all? I'm curious if it's possible with ForScan...

it would be nice to drive in D instead of M5 all the time ;-)

thanks!

ForScan is not compatible with GM vehicles. You can disable AFM with other tuners like the DiabloSport or a specific Range Technology AFM disabler device. I'm happy with the Diablosport.

try it let us know if it works.

With only a 15 second search, I don't think the thinkDiag will disable AFM, but by all means look up the manual. You're looking for something closer to a 'tuner' (read/write) instead of a scanner (read-only). These are products that will work, there are likely others.

Now, if you want to do a 'true' delete and remove AFM physically, look into something like this.
You'll have to tear into the motor, replace the camshaft and other components, but you can walk out with 40+ horsepower and remove the collapsible lifters as a potential problem. Good luck Exibar and let us know what you end up doing

And on another note, Forscan is pretty awesome for Ford products. If you other guys have ford/mazda or similar vehicles, and like to customize things or read Ford specific PID codes, check out Forscan. I briefly got into the program before selling off my old Expedition.

The thinkdiag+ is a full diag tool, read and write. I can change settings within all GM/ford/mopar/foriegn vehicles...
I just never looked for AFM...
I can change settings, calibrate speedo, etc with it as well... so maybe thinkdiag+ will touch AFM if I'm lucky :)

I don't want to tear this engine apart, I'm no stranger to cam swaps by any means :) But I just want to disable AFM for now... I drive in M5 to "disable" it as it is, but it would be nice to drive in actual drive and get a MPG or two back :)

My son picked up a police interceptor utility and found ForScan... before his ford, we were a full Chevy houshold for decades... ForScan is really nice for sure... I should have realized it was FORd SCANner LOL
