Anyone Use Synthetic Trans Fluid?

S

I've been using Mobil 1 in my AV for about 10,000 miles (she has 19K on her now). I was thinking of changing the trans fluid at 20K, and had heard mixed comments on using synthetic tranny fluid.

Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks,
Chris in NC

I put Amsoil Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid in my AV at 1500 miles, I now have 3500 miles on my AV and everything is great with the Amsoil.

Amsoil Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

The ad says:
Improves fuel efficiency, reduces transmission temperatures and increases transmission life. Provides unsurpassed thermal stability and up to five times the service life of conventional ATFs. Delivers maximum protection for towing and other severe-duty applications

I plan on changing it once a year or so, no matter what the milages. In South Texas it is hot and that is not good for any Fluids in your vehicles.

I have been using Amsoil Synthetic since about 7000 miles. Local Guru in San Antonio swears by it. I have had no problems or regrets in the 8K miles since I changed. If you go this route suggest you find a shop with the changer equipment which will get out all of the non-synthetic, including the converter, and replace it with the good expensive stuff.
I have used Mobil 1 since I bought the truck. I use Mobil 1 in all my cars, have for years. I even use it in the lawn mowers, no problems there either. One is about 15 yrs old (Honda) and it still don't smoke.
I think you'll be happy with it.

Gents, appreciate the response(es). The place where I get my oil changed has a device that sucks out all the old tranny fluid. I'm going to see about them doing my tranny this weekend.

Thanks again.
