I've finally gotten the IPOD installed after getting the correct Aux cable. Now I have several questions. Where have people installed these. I saw one post about putting it by the overhead console.

Also, has anyone played around with converting the JP Custom steering wheel controls so that the IPOD can be controlled as well. It seems like you would have to add an additional sensor for FF, RW, Stop, Play etc?

Could you give us some more details about your installation of the Apple IPOD?

I agree. Where did you get the AUX cable? I have been looking forward to hooking mine up.

Any of the aux-in cables for '02 vehicles will work fine for your application. The steering wheel remotes won't do you any good for the ipod unfortunately (unless you can find a way to make the ipod respond to third party ir commands that is).

I use the iTrip FM Modulator with my iPod. I've fabbed an acrylic holder for it near the top console that works nice. It works pretty well although a very high pitch sound and static come in and out depending on the area of town. I would rather cable it if there were an available way in the '03. From what I read around here, the HU doesn't have a place for a AUX input. Anybody know anything different?

Murdog, if you have xm, dvd, or a remote cd changer you can get an aux-in piece for the '03's.

Hey guys,

I work for Apple and I have my iPOD mounted on the right hand side of the radio.

If anyone needs a discount on iPods let me know. I have the 15 GB and I have about 2000 songs on it.

Here is a good ipod install in a 2003 Corolla. Same could be done in an Av

Thanks, Kodiakz. Darn, I'm outta luck. I'll keep searching clear freqs to get rid of the little things. Adjusting the volume on the iPod sometimes makes it OK, but risks overmodulating on some recordings.

I too am interested in attaching an AUX cable to my stock HU. Does anyone know if the '02 AUX cables will work with my non-bose standard 2003 HU? There is a button on the unit labelled "CD/AUX". Thanks! :)

All my surfing and talking to stereo guys that do car audio installs says no, or maybe if you hook up an external cd changer and lose your in dash cd. (I have the bose, but was told this applies to the 6 cd changer regardless of the speakers). I added an FM modulator (FMM100) that plugs into the antenna jack. The sound quality isn't what I would like, though at highway speeds, it sounds fine. It is relatively cheap and the install was simple. On the 2003 you can reach the antenna jack by popping out the holder under the A/C vent and reaching behind the stereo without removing it.

Can an iPod be hook up to an '03 with the Bose system head unit?

PAC AAI-GM12 !!! IT will give you the ability to hook up 2 sources!!! Assuming you have XM you can toggle between the 2 sources and XM with the switch that is included with the interface!!!!

I'm using the PAC AAI-GM9. I bought it from JPCustoms ( Jason ). I have my iPod running through it and it sounds great! I had an RF iPod input and got sick of the interference ( noise ). The only thing with the PAC units is you need to have a slave unit ie external device, CD changer etc. Which I have ( 12 disc changer ). Don't remember who mentioned the in dash Stock headunit single CD unit not working with a changer attached . . . but it works with mine >:D

I suggest shooting Jason an email. He's extremely helpful and knowledgable. And of course a site sponser (y)

Is there a website that talks about this process (adding inputs) in more detail? or a thread? Thanks!

TI was actually very easy to hook up. I pulled the dash cover and radio out, hooked in a GM9-AUX connector (made by PIE). This provided me with RCA jack inputs to use for my external music source (CD/DVD/Ipod etc). I ran the RCA jacks bhind the center dash vent and drilled a single whole in the dash. I went to radio shack and purchased a 2xRCA to 1/8 female jack. I took it apart and fed oen end through the hole int eh dash and then screwed the jack together so now I had a nice 1/8 jack in the lower edge of the center of the dash. If you have the full console you could easiely mount the kack anywhere on the console. Now all I do is plug my Ipod in, select Aux on the HU and I have MP3 music. I drove from NM to CA and back and only got through about 15 % of my music collection.

I'd still like to figure out a way to better control the music selection directly from the steering wheel...

And if you search for Aux-GM9 you will find several good threads about adding devices to your stock HU.
