Are the any programmers that change downshift while on cruise control?

I will probably be getting a programmer soon for some extra ponies and to recalibrate the speedo when I put my 33" tires on. I was wondering if there are any programmers that can change the downshift timing when on cruise control? I don't like how soon or how hard the avy downshifts when on cruise. It really sucks up the gas when using cruise on the interstate in hilly areas and I was hoping there was a programmer that could change the parameters of downshift during cruise to downshift less often. Thanks.

I don't know of any that work any differently on cruise control than they do when not on cruise control. With my Hypertech and changing my shift points into 2nd and 3rd gears by +3 and +12 respectively, my truck is downshifting into 2nd gear all the time (when climbing grades) with the cruise set at 79 mph. My understanding is that the Hypertech changes in shift points come into play when the throttle is opened up at least 85% of the way. I wish it would wait until 95% and then hopefully it wouldn't be dropping into 2nd so much at over 75 mph.

I believe there is a product out there (LS1 edit I believe it is called) which allows one more flexibility than what I'm getting with the Hypertech. I believe you can set for each gear and throttle setting (in 5% increments) what speed will prompt a gear change. Overall, I believe that product is more advanced than what my level of engine parameter tweaking can handle, so I stick with Hypertech. If I want to avoid the 70+ downshift into 2nd while on cruise control, I put the truck into tow/haul mode, which is not affected by the Hypertech.

Thanks Main..... that's just the kind of info I was looking for. So if you are in "tow/haul mode" the Avy shifts down less? I thought it would be just the opposite so that you didn't lose momentum while pulling a trailer. Hmm. I may have to try that. Thanks again.

There is a separate shift table for cruise control. LS1Edit will allow you to make changes to it. I don't know if the handheld programmers have any affect on it.

Someone could check their shift points in normal mode and tow-haul and then change the shift points with the HPP. If the changes affect both normal and tow-haul it may affect cruise as well.

My Hypertech does change the shift points for both cruise and non-cruise control conditions, but only in non-Tow/Haul mode, i.e. the Hypertech does not affect the shift points for Tow/Haul. The stock shift points are different between Tow/Haul and non-Tow/Haul.

I'm pretty sure that in Tow/Haul mode, the truck, under light throttle, will shift into 4th above 55 mph or so. Unless I'm in a construction zone, when I'm running on cruise control on an interstate, I've got it set well above 55. Therefore, for general conditions, I will be running in 4th gear when cruising on the interstate in either Tow/Haul or regular mode. The difference comes when I come to a grade which causes the truck to downshift. In Tow/Haul mode, it goes into 3rd. In non-Tow/Haul, especially if my cruise is set in the mid to high 70s, it will downshift into 3rd, and usually jump quickly from 3rd to 2nd. HTH

Ur probably gonna need a custom tune to do what ur asking. I wud bet that westers or Nelson can make something up exactly to ur specs. R/
