Are You One Of The exclusive Av (2500) Owners

Branded said:
I guess I will be joining this "exclusive" group tomorrow. After lurking on this site for a couple of months and gathering all sorts of valuable info, I have made my purchase. Tomorrow morning I will be flying to Las Vegas and picking up my new black '03 2500 4x4. By the time I get back home it should be just about through it's break-in period and the mods will begin. (Actually, I was considering a stop at the local parts store to pick up the amber DRL lamps before I even leave.)

This is my first post, but I think that I'll have a lot more to say (ask) beginning this Sunday when I return home with my new AV. ;D ;D

From a non exclusive 5.3 owner, welcome to the club!

I guess I am too >:D >:D >:D

I'm a 2500 owner. Costs me $50 per week to fill up. I bet most people didn't know the gas pumps shut off at $49.00 at most places.

Yeah... go ahead and brag

"I got a 2500 and I've never paid more than $50 to fill it up"

I went to fill it up two days ago and the station I stopped at was a prepay type. I gave the clerk 3 $20's, the pump stopped at $60.00, and the tank wasn't even full. I hope the gas price comes down after the holiday weekend.

I own a 2500, I pay a butt-load at the pump... But the horsepower is worth it ;D
Im now paying over 60.00 dollars a tank at the pump, but O-well
I love my truck!!!!

I'm one of the few, proud, and broke also. I cannot complain about the gas though. I love the HP and would never settle for less. I knew when I bought this beast that I wouldn't be getting many MTG. OH WELL, I just fill it around 1/2 to 3/4 so I can race it. Seems like the less gas, the faster it goes. Could have something to do with the weight of a full tank.

My wife has been driving our beast for the last week or so since our other car is in the shop. She was a little surprised that it took $62 and a significant time investment to fill up the 38 gallon tank.

The other problem is, and I mentioned this on another thread, is she loves driving the Av.

At least she has good taste.

I HATE it when they do that. :E: I don't bother restarting, so their loss in sales.

Had a loaded 95 2500 Suburban and loved it, the beast sounded incredable. 11 MPG and 2wd (the thing was a nightmare on icey Kansas roads ) killed it for me. So I enjoy the big blocks but dont miss the fillups.

I've never had a pump cut out on me because of the amount I've put in... but my local servo has just put in new pumps that seem to be more sensitive to fuel backwash and they cut out all the time (flick off requiring you to release and reapply the trigger). It is nothing for me to spend 10 - 12 minutes refuelling the beast.

Reporting for duty!

Dark Charcoal Metallic, leather, convenience package, 4.10 LSD, most all options except the DVD, roof rack and mud flaps. Yes, I have the tent and the mattress along with the other little B.S. stuff.

I love having big-blocks in my stable, had to have the AV when I found out no other vehicle manufacturer stuffs a 496ci (8.1L) engine in between the fenders of an SUV.

Mods-
I have the latest flowmaster muffler waiting to be installed. Looking for 20" rims and meaty tires to put on , painting the body hardware body color (all of it), tinted the front windows already and still waiting for an ATI pro-charger blower system to be built.

I'm going to SEMA in Nov. so I will check out the latest and greatest for these trucks. Along with my other preferred toys.

I love this truck and despite the gas consumption, I'm still waiting for Bush to hand me my free Iraqi oil and gas card. I can't really complain about gas mileage for this beast. I can run a half a tank of gas for 2 weeks driving it everyday. (mostly highway and little city)

There is no replacement for displacement. I find a steady diet of 93 octane and blue oval emblems keeps my beast happy and reliable and gives it a nice shiny coat. When it has too much Japanese she tends to get a little gassy but an easy fix is to find a nice smoked 1500. Only as a quick fix though. Not everyday of coarse. Since I picked her up in January she has gained some weight (mods) but still retains that sleek muscular build that the womens love. I only wish that my girl took as good care of me as my girl does. Wait...I'm confused...help...truck talks back...NOOOOOOOO!!!!! :p

Feels like there's only a handful of SoCal 2500 AVs? NICE! Well here's yet another proby petitioning for exclusive, super secret club membership! What kinda hazing/initiation do I gotta go through? (y)

Just bend over when you hit the gas pumps >:D I don't think there is another new vehicle out there that gets worst gas mileage than this beast. Maybe an RV or two but no normal car or truck.

Big block here baby!!

I was sold the minute the sales guy asked me
"do you want the one with the big engine???"

Hell yes!!

2003, 2500 Dark Grey Metallic here. I am getting 14ish MPG on the open road, which I am pretty happy with. My last truck was the Suburban 2500. It got 11 MPG at the most.

Another 2500 owner here! Way worth the extra penny... well dollars... in gas for the 2500! It's just so much fun letting people know what's under the hood when they ask! ;D (y) ;D

Just rid myself of a 2500 Lemon. 10Mpg average. I adored the truck until it left me hanging way to many times.

Just picked up an 04 Z71 and seeing the average at 15 mpg makes me happy! Not as slow as I thought they were either. My humble .02

All I have to say is;

Nahne Nahne Nahne ;D.........I'm getting about 20mpg (y) in my 1500 and it only cost about half of what you guys are putting into your tanks to filler' up . Not to mention cheaper to mod as well!

But I do agree there is no replacement for displacement, unless your at the pumps! Gotta love those big blocks. LOL

I'm just mad cause I couldn't afford one can you tell?
