I am about to pull the trigger on a '07 avalanche in black.  Everyone is telling me that I am crazy for wanting a Black one because they are hard to keep up and that scratch real easy.  So my question is, are you sorry for buying a black one?

well  I had a black Denali that I got new, and ive only had my AV LT for 5 weeks...
but I feel the same about both. My absolute favorite vehicles ever!
The AV is already 3 or 4 years old, and does have some little scratches,
but you cant see them unless you have your nose pressed to the truck.
And we genarally frown on people pressing their nose against our Avalanche! =P
Long short, Black takes a little more work to keep clean.
But if you love it like I do, you'll think it's worth it. Like I do.
see what I mean?

Nope. Had mine only 3 weeks but I'm happy so far. Got to wash it every 3-4 days, but so what... (y)

I just traded my 99 Silverado for a 2007 Avalanche. Both vehicles are black. It's true they are harder to keep clean but they look awesome when they are. I didn't think I would get another black truck but when I saw it in the car lot, I knew it was the one I wanted. I would have been in the market for a new Avalanche but I just bought a 2012 Camaro SS, also black. What can I say, I know what I like.

All black all the time, my last three trucks have been black...When I built a new house, my only requirement was a heated garage with a floor drain and hot and cold softened water...

If you are as anal as most of us you will both love it and hate it. But just after you wash/wax it you'll love it and everyone that looks at it will love it. There is nothing that compares to Black when it is well taken care of. If you don't like to keep your stuff looking good, stay away from black. Black is a commitment to CLEAN.

I have a black '09 AVALANCHE and a black GMC Sierra PU. Also a Green Camaro. I have found out keeping swirls out of the paint is easy if you wash the vehicles correctly. I had an SSR and washed it all the time, but it was full of swirls. When I got the camaro I joined the camaro5 forum. All kinds of info on washing/waxing and detailing. So I watched the videos, got some product and have found out I love to detail. It's easy to keep up a black vehicle once you get a couple good coats of wax on them (and yes the type of wax makes a difference)

Yesterday I started my spring cleaning on the AVALANCHE. After a winter of use there were few swirls and it washed up beautifully. Sometimes when I drive my truck I will have people roll down their windows and tell me how great they shine.

Thinking of getting a WHite Diamond but if not a new BLACK Avalanche is coming soon!

Everyone told me not to get black but I knew what I wanted. I've owned white, green, tan and orange vehicles. The tan(pewter as Chevy calls it) showed the least when dirty but the white was the worst! Clean or dirty I love the black but it is gorgeous when just washed!

My Av is red, but my GN is black (of course).   I have  problems with dust clinging to the paint.  Just sitting in the garage for a couple of days, it accumulates dust and lint.  Also swirl marks will show up.  Make sure your polish applicator is clean.  that being said, when clean, it looks really great.

I bought a California Duster for my black AV and just dust it off before I drive. I love the black, as for swirls, once a year I do the clay
bar, and use my Porter Cable with Polish and get out all the swirls. Plus I am careful when I wash it, 2 bucket system, straight lines when wiping only use good Micro Fiber towles and use a leaf blower to get the water off.. It stays pretty swirl free..worth the extra effort..

No doubt your an Adams Polish guy, me too.  (y) but mine is ruby metallic and I have the same issues as black.

Try wintertime in Alberta, Canada!  LOL.  Mine is black and I love it but I have to get it detailed in the spring.  I'm too short to clean it myself so I just pay for it.  I love the black.  I now have the black bowtie it looks wicked when it is clean!   (y)

I had a black Grand Cherokee,a black Ridgeline...and now a black Avalanche.

My answer is,no...

I went a lighter colour on purpose on my AVY.  I have a black vehicle now, and no matter how well I take care of it and clean it, one little rain and puff of dust and it looks filthy.

They are beautiful clean, but to much of a pain in my opionion to keep looking clean.

I went silver, I have owned every colour from green, blue, red, brown and black.  Would of preferred white, but silver is pretty close to hiding those things that you have no control over. Rock chips, unknown scratches, etc

Saying that, I dont treat my vehciles like crap either, but no matter how well you do, there are always those unknown things that seem to show up when parking somewhere etc.

The black though does look like, but not a colour I would ever buy again

After three months of owning my '09, am I sorry? NO.. Do I spend more time in keeping it clean? YES! :D  I sold a 2004 Dodge Ram that was silver and I agree with spidey, it was a breeze to keep clean, but almost to fault.  I hate to admit, but there were times in the winter that I went weeks, if not a couple of months, in between washes and ultimately it cost me in the form of rust.  Now, I did some research and yes, it is a know issue with Dodge and it should NOT have experience rust in 6 years, but I have to believe that some of it was my fault as well.

I absolutely love it!!!  However I did experience some frustration today.

Had the truck detailed last week, the place I took it to used armor-all on the plastics.
After a few rain showers this week the oils spread all down the paint.  Even after a thorough wash they remained.

Solution:  Spray bug and tar remover on a soft wet rag and wipe painted panels down.  Then follow up with a rinse and dry.

Looks good as new again.

Not in the least.....went out of my way to buy a black one.

Have a silver '07....wasn't a bad color , but just bought a black '12 and what a difference in appearance, especially with the optional body color shiny  "Escalade" sails, saddlebags, tailgate lip and full length 3rd light LED bar.

Just got truck back from the body shop....$5400 in hail damage. Now looks as good or better as the day I bought it which reminds why I buy black street vehicles. Now all I gotta do is keep it up this time.
