Although I tried to talk myself out it this time around, I couldn't resist.  No better color to have when it's clean.  It's a pain but well worth the work!!

Never!!!  I love the black but I'm going to get it Minged.  My Envoy was Graphite (metallic almost black) and it was also minged and it stayed much cleaner and was so shiny.  So, that's the next thing I do for my Avy

Perhaps it's local (Edmonton, AB, Canada) but it's paint and leather protection ... it really works and is worth the few hundred bucks.  I had my Envoy for 8 years and it was still as new as the day I bought it when it got smucked by an idiot Nissan Frontier!!!

I swore I'd never buy another black vehicle, but my AV looks so good when it's clean.  It's dirty ten minutes after I wash it here in the front range mountains of Colorado.  The paint is surprisingly tougher than my last three Japanese vehicles.  The Toyota and Honda paints scratched if you looked at them too hard.

Black is beautiful.  I've had 2 black cars, a 2001 Sierra and a 2010 Camaro SS and I hated them both.  I didn't keep either of them too long because I'm super anal about the appearance and cleanliness of my cars.  I could never keep the black ones clean.

Traded the black Sierra on an Orange Trans Am and traded the black Camaro SS on a white Camaro SS.

I probably would have bought a black Avy though.  :E: (y)

Looks like you got sucked in the same as I did.....same place, same problem. Had decide I really wanted Storm Grey, or whatever they're calling it now, but the black Z71 with the more subtle, satin chrome accents just bit me in the butt and wouldn't let go. And you're right about the paint being pretty tough. I subscribe to a local full service car wash program....$200/6 month unlimited, and have it detailed annually come late spring. Wife and I were having breakfast up in Maine about three weeks ago with a couple from New York with a two week old 2011 Black Z71 Av. They complemented us on how good ours looked, especially being 2200 unwashed miles away from home.

7 hours later and well worth the shine.......now to the Restorer and done.

I look at the black like I look at most things in life. You put some time and effort into it and the reward is worth it. Once it's shined and cleaned it turns heads every time.

I'm brand new to my Avalanche as of yesterday.  This is my first car to have in black.  I normally look for any color other than black but this somehow popped when I saw it the first time.  I waxed it last night once it got home from being detailed and it took about twice as long as any other car because you can see absolutely any residue left behind.  When I got out of the truck at work this morning I was happy with the decision... looks amazing.  I probably will hate it in the winter but looks good when clean!  :D

When clean black is just too appealing.  The Avy is my 1st black vehicle and I'm happy with my decision... on the other hand these trucks are a P.I.T.A. to wash (freaking huge!).

My second black vehicle, so I knew what I was getting into.  It is a pain sometimes to do the things that are required, but when it's clean and shined up there is no better color to have.  You don't realize how big these things are until you give it a bath.

This is my first black vehicle... washed it this morning on the way to work and when I got out at the office felt like it needed washed all over again.  You really need to wipe it down and get rid of the water spots right away or it looks terrible.  I won't buy black again but it sure looks good when it's clean.

Immediately aftering washing and waxing, the Avy looks best in Black.  But the next day, when the dirt and dust starts showing up it looks like crap.

You have to be willing to take the time and care for black.  Dust and debris are easily wiped away with a car duster (california) and it only takes me about 5 minutes to get it all off after a day of sitting out in the elements.  I find it well worth the work ....... I just hate the winter time in the rainy NW......makes it impossible to keep clean when all it does is rain.

Hey,

It may be a little more work but when it's clean it's the most beautiful vehicle out there! I don't think I would want another color....

I don't know what you guys are talking about it when you say black is hard to keep clean.... This is my third black vehicle and it looks just fine even after 3-4 month of going unwashed, yeah you can see the little dirt marks, but you have to stand relatively close... my girlfriends white Mercedes looks like crap if its not washed for 2 month, every little dust spot is visible.... Granted I don't have to drive the dirt trail and my commute is fairly light, but still I just don't get what the big deal is.

I won't ever have any other color. Nothing looks better than a blacked out AV. You never here any one say. I wish my truck was all oranged out.

No way!

I love black.  This is my 3rd black car and I live in a very dusty area.  The trick is to keep microfiber cloths available along with a bottle of filtered water.  I just dampen the microfiber towel and wipe the car down every 2 or 3 days.  It does not take much time and it makes the truck look awesome.

PS - I also bought a car cover to keep it dust free while parked on my side yard.
