One of our club members MEZICK 3006 has recieved his 3 FREE packs of Armor-Dillo and says he will apply it this weekend and let the club know how he likes it. I know the response will be great. Best of all he wont be swetting over cleaning cargo covers or cladding for about 6 months.

I've either missed the thread or this is something totally new.....

I am interested in hearing about this product!

What? We got dillo's all over the place here in Texas and a product called Armadillo meat but never heard of nobody puttin' armadillo on any truck[ cept maybe the underside after y'all run'em over cause they have a tendency to git in the highways and sit up. Please tell us what the dillo stuff is your friend is trying. Are y'all sure it is not a joke on your friend? :0: ??? ;)

We have a lot of Dillos here in Florida also. I shoot them all the time when they dig up my lawn. I was going to eat one one time but they are just too ugly. Have you ever eaten one they say they taste like pork.

This is a different type of Armor- Dillo this is a new product to restore and protect cladding and cargo covers.

 Armor -Dillo is a new product on the market to restore oxidized cladding and cargo covers to like new. Simple to apply, resists soaps, cleaners ECT wont streak and lasts about 6 mo. If you have any more questions please let me know.

Lots of questions. Where do you get it? How much? Etc, Etc. Just let me know about the basics. Sounds interesting.

If you would like to order you can send me an e mail to angryhorse1@msn.com. Cost is $15.95 per packet and it will take 3 packets to do your complete AV cladding, bumpers and cargo covers.

Again very expensive versus the new paint from urethane suipply which would last a lot longer and you can change colors to somehting better if desired.........

I await the review from the member you sent sample to.............

Better yet... send samples to YGMN. if it passes his test then it's gotta be good!

sounds like the best idea yet.... I have no clue who MEZICK 3006 is.... Maybe getting samples to Gandy or Ygmn or one of the other highly active moderators or board member would serve to your benefit.

I would not be interested in anything that is NOT PROVEN nor ENDORSED by a major retailer or the CAFCNA board....

My investment ( as it were ... if you call buying a truck an "investment") in my vehicles won't be put at risk trying a product that is experimental.

If there are stats or testimonials or something that can lend credence to the product... let me know

Does this product have UV protection? How does it compare to 303 - I got 3 cans of stock cladding paint - it sure makes the cladding shine like new :)

MEZICK 3006 has 0 (zero) posts, so I would be interested to hear his opinions. Yes, that' comments coming from a low post guy myself. I tend to be a listener/watcher.

The Optimist: :cautious:

I'm wondering if MEZICK has applied it. If he has, how did it go on? What are your thoughts on it? How tough is it to get off of the paint?

The Pessimist: >:D

Who is MEZICK? If MEZICK has no posts, how did Answerman find him? Is MEZICK really a front for the product?

No matter the outcome of this test I probably won't buy the product because 1) too expensive 2) UV protection doesn't normally last that long, unless it's built into the product 3) don't know who the tester is, and trust very few when it comes to my Avy.

Now my mind might change if someone that is known and knows what they are talking about actually tests it, likes it, and posts about it.

Thanks ygmn. Can you get the uerethane paint any where or is it just limited right now.
Here is link

Someone else posted about this sometime ago..and after reading etc.....this seems like a decent product and will work as performed.....now it does not say how long it lasts.....

Also they show how to repair damage to plastics which is great.....

I say we wait on this thread until the tester reports in........

PEACE

Hey guys, applied the ARMOR-DILLO on my '02 Labor Day weekend. Application was very simple... wipe it on. Took all 3 packs that were sent to cover all cladding. I was very conscerned about 1 hour after application at how sticky the stuff was, but, overnight the product hardened to a slick coating that looks great. I have been through a couple of rain showers on interstate so far and dillo is showing no signs of running or streaking.

I responded blindly to the offer to supply some free samples not knowing that the cost of dillo was so high per pack. I was just willing to try something to keep the white off my plastic.

I will continue to update you guys on my results during and after the claimed 6-month period.

Oh, by the way, the reason I have only one post is that I am a listener/watcher also. I have been viewing this sight silently since July 2003.

This sight is extremely informative. Thanks Guys!!!

Mezick 3006 Thanks for your response on Armor-Dillo IM sure you wont be disapointed. If you like try some wheel acid on it It wont touch it. I have also noticed some stickyness at times after application but if you wipe it down with a damp cloth it will take care of that.

I own an '02 Avaalanche with the same cargo panel problem that seems to plague everyone. Was at my dealership (Maher Chevrloet in St. Pete, FL) and the parts manager sold me three packets of Armor-dillo. It works...quick and easy, no streaking and we had tropical thunderstorms this past week, and the panels look great. I was told an application three times per year should keep all the plastic parts looking good.
It's been three weeks, and so far seems better than anything else I have tried. Will continue to monitor and let y'all know.

Can you find out where a dealer for the product is? Interested, just leary of trying something new and not recommended by YGMN.

I found their website http://www.armor-dillo.net/

I'll have to admit tha the product looks good on the site.

I will be watching this product.

There is a link on their site to find local dealers.....

Intersting that everyone involved has just joined, has single digit posts or very negitive karma. This may be the best thing around, but I will let those daring souls try it out. I vote Answerman sends YGMN a chemical makup of the product and some samples, if he says it's a go - maybe we have a new site sponsor...

I'm looking into this polyurathane coating. Has anyone used this stuff. I have an 02' AV. However, I would love the cladding to be like the 03' and 04'. I like the darker look. It seems they have a pre-mixed color for the 02 AV (light gray). Do they have it pre-mixed for the darker AV cladding? If not....has anyone used it? How difficult is it to mix? How about application. Is it relatively easy? How many cans do you need to buy to cover the AV?

thanks in advance
