Because I run AV in Japan, daily life is keeping to the left with the left. ;D

LOL.... I know what you mean Robert, I've got a LHD Cadillac Convertible that is fun to drive on our side of the road (LH). It's good for chatting up the pretty sheilas or posting a letter.... but not so easy at the fast food drive throughs.

I've gotta say this thing is heavy on fuel.... like, *really* heavy, it's not unusual for me to spend $170.00 per week on fuel for an average distance travelled of about 800 kilometres. Maybe it's just 'cos I'm enjoying the power under foot.
Thats a whole lot of cash for 1 week of riding around if this converter was true to what you are paying weekly for gasoline!!!!!!

170 Australian Dollar = 125.062 US Dollar

Median price = 0.73517 / 0.73566 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 0.73120 / 0.73200
Maximum price = 0.73830 / 0.73890

Well I can give you some examples of how the numbers are stacking up for me at the moment...

I'm getting a current average economy of 20 litres per 100 kilometres or 11.95 miles per gallon...

With an average weeks travel being 800 kilometres (497) miles I'm likely to use 160 (42.26) litres of fuel with an average cost of AUD$0.96 (AUD$3.63 per gallon) per litre means an average weekly cost of AUD$153.60 (USD$113.16 @ 1 AUD = 0.736695 USD).

But I still love this truck (y)

well, you also said that your boss rights off some of your gas too... so that helps... is that 20L/100km mostly city? I was seeing 15L/100km cruising at 110km/h on my test drive last week... I love that 3/4 it will soon me in my driveway... :B:

Actually the company pays for all of my fuel, but it is supposed to be based on a budget. Of course the budget was set back when I was driving a 5.7 litre Silverado... and now the figures have gone WAY up. I am looking like being a few thousand over budget at the end of the year. I'm hoping I can get a tolerance for how much distance they have sent me on this year... if I can get them to agree to that I should be OK, if not then I might be paying some back.

I guess that of the total distance driven so far it would probably be about 60% city and 40% highway.

Hey Skidd, how many miles do you have on your AV now?

Terry

I've now got 21,000 Km (13,000 Mi) on the beast and it's running great... still waiting for the chance to take it up to the little bit of snow that we get here to see how she goes, hopefully I'll have the chance to do that next year. (y)

You will love it in the snow,,wish we had some around here :cautious:
We should be getting some this week

Howdy!
This is the first time that I have read this thread and found it just wonderful!

But the question begs to be asked........

What are Mrs. Skidd's thoughts on the AVY now??? Does she hog the keys? Have you slept in the tent?? etc etc.....

Do tell.......................... ;D

what the heck is 640,000 km - Calculator time = About 400k miles.

LoL... good to see you still around mate.

Yes a lot of seat time... in fact I've worm out the bolster on the RH seat base (drivers side for me). Only just this week I've ordered a replacement.

Amazing, Congrats on the miles
I cant remember how many trucks I've had in the past 400k miles lol
Beautiful shape, rust must not be a problem but
whats your secret with the engine?

No real rust problems down here, we only have snow in a very small part of the country for a couple of months. No big secret on the engine at all mate, just do the oil and filter changes every 6,000 mi. Also I think it helps that I very rarely do any stop & go short trips. Mostly I get in the car and drive for several hours so everything gets up to running temps etc.

My Av even has the original factory fitted exhaust system. Not even needed a new muffler!
