i'm not sure exactly where to put this. so feel free to move the tread.

has anyone seen this or tried it?

http://www.youcansave.com/lockp.asp

it's suppose to be one of the best items out there right now.

anyone have any words of wisdom?

what's to stop them from cutting off th pedal and sliding this thing off?

if they want it, they will find a way, even if it is dragging the AV up onto a flatbed and driving off.... :cautious:

trust me if they want your vehicule they will take it, i had my 2003 silverado z71 sportside stolen with a so-called great alarm in it.

It looks to be made from stamped steel ... which well could be easly bent or cut.....

I just ordered one. I don't expect it to be foolproof, but it is supposedly made from hardened steel. I think it would take more than a minute to cut through either the pedal or the lock and you stand a better chance of the thief looking for an easier target. For 40 bucks, its a no brainer. I'll let you know what I think once I start using it.

If you really want to protect the Avalanche so that a forced entry instantly sends the thief crying on the run go to:
www.peasoupsmoke.com Interesting product that is used all over Europe and for some reason it never reached the automotive market. Product is non-toxic, non-staining, and has no order or after use oder and can be set for 40 times before refill and that is more times on a attempted theft than I have ever heard of. It is also a very small unit easily fitting almost anywhere in the cab.

Enjoy and stay well. Alan

Wow, Peasoup Smoke is cool. If I did that I think my next mods would be an ejection seat and self destruct mechanism. ;)

That is so true, if someone wants your vehicle they can get it especially if they are a professional car thief. Most crimes though are crimes of opportunity. Low lifes see something they want and try to take it by any means. But no security device can stop a professional auto thief, especially one that knows what he/she is doing. Multiple security devices can slow the pro auto thief down. Just hope that you fall in the category of the opportunist car thief that needs a little bit more practice and with the multiple security devices he'll just bypass your vehicle and move on to a easier vehicle to steal. I have the auto lock. I think it's a great investment. When my funds get up I'm getting a boot, steering wheel lock, Gps tracking device, and probably a couple of kill switches. One can never have enough ;D If they can get pass all of that they can have it.

Having something unique helps too. Pro's or not, it takes time they usually don't have, to figure it out. even with a code reader.

Maybe hidden tracking and/or disabling mods.

That still isn't pro-proof but it lessens the chance of their success.

.... talk to 'nAV' here on the site!! He has some freaky stuff installed in his SOM AV; we had a preview of it at Niagara Falls GTG !!!
.... including WIRELESS CAMERA  , one of those Steering wheel warning thingees, etc !!

Got my "unbrakeable" Autolock. I don't think anyone is cutting this thing off in less than 30 minutes. The way it works is to basically put a wedge between the brake pedal and the floor so that the brake pedal can not be depressed.

It's a slight bit awkward to put it in place because of the way the brake pedal arm is tucked up under the dash, or maybe it is the way my pedals are set. For the same reason it doesn't sit exactly flat on the floor and it wiggles a small bit.

Nonetheless, this thing isn't coming off without a key and the vehicle dang sure isn't being driven away with it in place. Yes, it will not prevent someone from towing the truck away but that was never my issue.

I doubt I'll use it all the time but I will keep it in the rig for those times when I am feeling a bit insecure. For 40 bucks its worth the piece of mind.
