I need help with the Auto Ride. The rear compressor stopped working about 8 months ago so while I had time on my hands this weekend I replaced it with a Dorman unit, Hooked up and started truck and nothing happen. I checked connections to the comp, checked the relay and it clicks when I pulled it and applied batt power to it. I jumped the the connector with power form the battery and the new comp works. connected back and turn key and no comp. I don't have a scan tool so what should I check to get it working? Would bad shocks prevent it from turning on?

I would not imagine a bad shock would prevent the air compressor from coming on.

Especially if you are not getting getting a Service Suspension error.

When I first bought my EXT used, it had two blown out air shocks and a burned up air compressor.

I am assuming the air compressor burned up from trying to constantly air up the blown out air shocks.

I replaced all of my shocks and the air compressor with parts from Arnott.

Everything was plug and play and the new air compressor came right on and aired up my shocks.

Perhaps the Dorman air compressor is to blame and it is not working with the signal sent from the computer to begin the pumping process.

When everything is working correctly, the air compressor should kick on after about 10-20 seconds of first turning on the engine as a test of the system.

It will pump up slightly and then release air as a test.

You probably won't hear it release any air, but you should hear the pump kick on.

As I think about it, there was a owner a while back that had worked on his system and he later developed a problem.

He discovered that he had accidentally disconnected the wiring connection at the top of one of the air shocks and his system stopped working.

Maybe it would be worth a look to make sure everything is tight and secure.

Thanks I will look into checking the connections again. Like I said before, I jumped the connection under the hood to the compressor and the compressor came on until I removed the power from it. The compressor was plug and play except for connecting the air lines. Some one suggested I check the motion sensors on the frame by disonnecting the lickage and manually moving the lever attached to the sensor

Open the tailgate and have a couple friends sit on it.
Should get enough weight to get it to kick in.

Well, I gave up on trying to figure whats wrong with the new compressor not auto starting. I even pulled the module from under the bed and and started the truck and I got a service suspension Waring. I plugged it back in and warning away. So, I got a hose kit with a t valve and mounted under the rear bumper to fill the shocks when needed until I save up for a complete aftermarket shock setup

Did you test power to the unit? Could be a fuse or relay? Although that should throw a code. I replaced my whole system and it was plug and play.
