It's on my short list! Do you have it yet? I've been looking at this for some time, and I think I am finally prepared to acquire this gear. >:D
Is anyone else using this?

The new Autotap software hasn't started shipping yet but I expect to see a large shipment sometime next week. It looks like this version is going to be very popular.

hey tom, nice to see you at CAFC. good to have a performance retailer on here to answer questions. im from ls1.com also. im in Mass too. i rember seeing you at an ls1 meet at unos a while ago. Alex

Ive been using the earlyer version of AutoTap..., and love it..., if your going to be doing any work, or Mods to your engine.., its almost a Must have..., ill have to check out the new version.....

Instead of spending all the money on a trip computer, will this not tell you much more that is going on with the truck?

Hi Alex: I remember seeing you drive through the parking lot that day. There is going to be an f-body/Corvette gathering at K2U in Woonsocket, RI on Saturday at noon. You might want to check this out if you have time. Details are posted in the New England section of LS1.com.

Tom

i would love to go, but my bro has a dirt bike race and i am the mechanic. for some reason ls1 will not let me log in. do you have any idea what could be wrong? thanks. Alex

I just got in without a problem. It might have just been a temperory thing. Here is the info that is posted -

New England Dyno and T Byrne Motorsports will be hosting a New England Gathering for f-body and Corvette owners at K2U in Woonsocket, RI. This event will kick off in the parking lot at noon on Saturday, July 13th. The club opens to the general public at 3:00 but will be available for our "Private" party inside at 1:00 so people can move inside as they wish. Food will be provided with a buffet and t-shirts will be available.

Hope to see you there!

Hello all

I looked at their web site, but I'm still a little confused about what exactly this product does and which version is best for my AV. Also, what's the dif in the version that are described on the web.

Auto Tap your server or broadband access is way to slow. :cautious:There must be a lot of people checking you out right now. ;)The software is awesome and can't wait for the new version.

AutoTap is advisable if you are serious about tuning you heavily modded engine - the EfiLive is a bi directional version that can set a limited set of parameters. ;D

My AutoTap Pro w/ EFiLive Pro came in today - great, i am 1000 miles away driving a bright red Mustang - bahhhh!

Y'all better get in on this while its on sale ;D

Gandolphxx, this sounds both worthwhile and cool. DocToss asked this earlier in this thread:

In addition to the tuning statistics, does it provide fuel 'economy' data?

You can check the website Autotap - it is mainly useful for tuning, checking and clearing codes - it is not a practical replacement for a "trip" computer. Most folks don't want to carry a laptop around in their front seat.

And just what makes you think that those of us on this board are like "most people?" ;D I'd hate to think that we are all just ordinary! ;)

I've been known to drive around with a laptop balanced on the center console! >:D Of course, that was for use with an older GPS receiver, and I don't do that anymore since I got the little GPS V unit with the built in map display.

I agree, I wouldn't want to keep the laptop hooked up on a daily basis.

Unless I have missed something, it looks like this software only shows you what is going on, it doesn't let you alter anything.

Based on this, wouldn't we still need the HPIII or the new chip that is available for performance tuning of the computer?

I also would like to know the difference between HPIII and AutoTap w/EFILive V5!! I was looking to buy the HPIII but if the AutoTap system work almost the same and is almost the same price why shouldn't I buy it. I want to do performance tuning on my AV, so what is better the HPIII or the AutoTap? ???

How do you connect the AutoTap scanner to your PC? The Serial port or USB? ??? (I hope USB cause my notebook only have USB ports)

Will I be able to use the Autotap system with other GM vehicles? ???

I know the HPIII will only work on one Vehicle. :-[
How has the AutoTap system worked for you and your AV? ???

AutoTap Hardware and EFILive V5 Pro with bi-directional controls

It is not my understanding that either system is VIN locked, guess I will know when I hook it up.

There are USB to serial adapters - that is what you will need.

The serial adapters to USB may not work if the software is looking for a com port (com 1, 2 or 3) to use. My cell phone also can be connected to a computer but the software wants a com port, so I can not use my notebook (whick only has USB ports) with my phone, I have to use one of my servers to connect to the cell phone.

I read on this site somewhere that the HPIII can only be used on 1 vehicle, is this true?

I still would like to know the differences between HPIII and AutoTap w/EFILive V5? Can they both do the same things?

Is the HPIII the best for performance tuning of the AV computer?

The HP3 is the best bet for tuning at this time - maybe Superchips - the EFILive is developing into a super LS1Edit, but it will be awhile and will require more knowledge than the average owner has.

The HPIII is serial number locked and can not be shared with other vehicles. You have to remove one vehicle to program another. Their way of selling more units.
