AV 02 Side impact air bags

I guess that when a person gets close to having 69 years of longevity, we have a tendacy to be a lot slower. This AV site has been a lot of help in geting answers taht the dealer sometimes forgets to tell us.

Today I began to do the set up for my new sheepskin seatcovers and low and behold I discovered that I do have side impact air bags.

Thanks for allowing an oldr codger who spent 6 months as a guest of the Viet Cong in 1961 to 1962, to be part of your group.

I adopted my AV from it's first owner and I too was pleasantly suprised to see that I has side impact bags. Didn't find them until I was cleaning the leather.

I believe that Side airbags were STANDARD on the 02.

Yes, 02 was the last yr GM offered them as standard equipment. They are extra in the 03, that was one of the reasons I purchased my 02 Av.

I did not even see them offered or on ANY of the 2004 models I test drove? I had them on my 02 adn I thought (and you all confirmed) they were standard...
I wish I had them in my -04.

They are on plenty of '04 AV's here in TX. My wife and I would actually prefer NOT to have them as she likes to sleep up against the window when we go on a trip. That would be a no-no with side air bags.

My 02 Av has them. When I ordered my 04 Grand Prix a few months ago, they were not available yet, but I didn't want to wait any longer than I already had to, so I ordered the vehicle without them. I don't know why there was a delay in getting them installed at the factory. There seems to be a lot of controversy regarding the benefits of side impact air bags lately.
