I was running a buddy to work today while his truck was in the shop.

The highway is 3 lanes wide sitting at the stop light. ?I pull up and there is a new Silverado sitting beside me. ?I am not thinking about him and the light turns green - I take off and my buddy looks over and says Hey - he is trying to race you.

I can't let my UPD Mod go to waste, so I step on it even though the Silverado has the jump on me.

Well the AV kicked his a$$ - we got off the gas at 75mph.

My buddy who has a 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel was impressed with the AV's performance.

Not to pi$$ on your parade but I traded my '00 Silverado for my Av and my Silverado was way faster than my Av. (both stock, both 5.3, both 3.73)
Of course you would expect that since the Silverado is about 1000 lbs lighter.

My Parade is still intact :)

Maybe the difference came down to who was willing to go WFO the longest. ?:0:

Right now it is AV - 1 ?Silverado - 0

I will have to wait until the next opportunity comes up to validate the above results ?>:D

It would have been more fun to report on the results as being AV - 1 ?F150 - 0

I'm gonna have to agree with ya. I traded in my GMC Sierra with the smaller 4.8l and it would run circles around my AV. It even had the 3:43 gears. Here is where the weight factor comes into play. The Sierra was a single cab/short bed. I can't even break the tires loose on wet pavement. Don't even know why I have traction control. ;D

Blueruck,

I'm glad you did not take offense to my comment. After re-reading it I looked like I was being a jerk and I didn't mean to be.

You know I have yet to be waved back at from other Av owners. :8: Makes me feel like an idiot waving at them!

My Silverado was an ext. cab short bed and I couldn't keep the tires on the pavement. I blame thatt on the fact that they were Firestones. If it rained out and I was pulling into traffic I used to put on the Auto 4wd because I knew if I gave it any gas I would spin my tires.

Mark - I didn't take offense - you were just sharing your personal experience.

Yeah, me too... I didn't mean to steal your thunder.

The AV is definantly quick for the size it is and I wouldn't hesitate to run it against a dodge ram any day.

I've had a Chevy Silverado and a 2001 Dodge Ram with a 5.7 liter.

I had the Ram for about ten months and it had to go. I averaged 10.5 mpg.

I'm pretty sure the Siverado would beat the AV but I'm positive the AV would destroy the Ram. That truck couldn't even get out of its own way.

I love seeing stuff like this from prior Dodge owners.

I also have to admit on the silverado issue the debate with the weight issue. Hunting buddy bought brand new single cab Z71 and we ran it against the AV, figured there was no way the AV could hang due to weight issue. AV won by a link or two.
Made the mistake and helped him get a HPP3 for his truck and now he leaves me in the dirt.
Heck what are friends for ;D

I like my AV as much as anyone...but my wife's car is a Durango with the 318, 4x4 and it will smoke the AV, no question about it.

It'll be a different story once I invite Mr. Whipple to live in my AV >:D

Doesn't that pi$$ you off?! Whenever I run across a fellow AV'er, I flash my lights and/or waive. True AV'ers respond back but some just give me the "deer in the headlights look." Isn't that legal grounds to confiscate their AV?

Most AV owners around here...probably all ten of us (hehe) do acknowledge each other on the road. Now though it is getting a little tough spotting an AV headon with the Silverados stealing our front clip.

having rode 2 wheelers, I think you should wave, even when not returned it is letting them know- You are out here.
When seeing another AV in a parking lot- Normaly in the outback or north 40 of the Home Depot or Target. I try and park near/next to them- Always respecting their space of the fine ride the are driving. I think that some AV owners, having been the only ones out here for some time are kinda shocked at seeing us reaching out to one another.
I know I always get waves and lights from Yukon/Denali types and the Escalade crowd as well-

Good road manners, respect and taking care of each other and our rides runs deep. Lets set the bar going forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :B:  :B: ;D

I would think that the weight issue is what played the bigger role in the Silverado.....the Av has a lot of weight to move around as compared to the above mentioned....but your right Mr. Whipple would definitely do away with that theory in a heart beat...btw..if he comes to visit..send him my way..I would like to speak to him....

I've yet to recieve a wave from other Av owners.....most of the time they just look in bewilderment.....but suprisingly enough when I'm on the water....most boaters always wave consistently.... :B:
