Hi:
Just got off the phone with my insurance agent and thought I would pass some information on to the group.
Allstate places our beloved AV in the high-end of the middle cost classification. Or to be more specific:
1500 2WD = 'I' rating
1500 Z71 = 'K' rating
North Face = 'K' rating
(sorry nothing for the 2500)
Allstate has three basic groups, A-G, H-L, M-Z for example. The higher (A) the letter, the more costly it is to insure. So, since our AVs are among the first letters in the middle group, they are the highest vehicles to insure for that particular classification.
Just to give you a point of reference, my 98 BMW M3 was a 'B'. My AV is a 'K' and a Saturn is a 'Y'.
Oddly enough, my AV was about the same cost to insure as my M3. Hmm. Also the 2WD has a higher classification than the 4WD. Interesting.
Anyway, this is just one company. YMMV.
