Well folks I am going to be AV-less for about 3 days.my Avalanche has to go in for surgery (so to speak). I was driving down the road and all the sudden my "Service Engine Soon" light comes on so I take it to the dealership and yup my knock sensors are bad so they have to take apart my Avalanche's motor to get to them and it is going to cost me about $500-600 dollars to fix because I am out of warrenty (57K miles) and they did say that if the knock sensors are rusted then they will have to redrill and retap all of them and would be with my AV for about 5 days :3: :3: I don't know what I am going to do with out my AV for 3-5 days  has any one else had this problem with there motor?

That bites!!

Don't know what I'd do without my Av for 3-5 days. Hope everything works out for you.

Joe

Sorry to see you AV-less for any amount of time. I know how you love that truck...

HEY!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you can get them to let you drive that Victory Red SS on the showroom floor for your loaner. ;D

Just a little arm twistin' and you're there... ;)

Have not had that problem. I have engine knocks under hard throttle, but I know the issue I think.

I had to go a week without the AV twice. Once for paint and a second time for lowering kit and air system. Had a van the second time that had 400K on it  On the paint job I had a neon. Boy did I get rassed about that

Hang in there Lance, hopefully the 3 days will be all that you are without your AV.

Do they offer loaner AVs while yours is in the shop?
Nope no loaner AV too small of a dealership the only loaner cars we have is like a 198? Oldsmobile Cutless and because I am not 18 yet I can't have a loaner so I am driving my Dad's Suburban around(I don't like it that much compard to the AV) his is a 1998. No I am gettting a little bit mad at the dealership because I took it in a 9:00am this morning and it is now 11:19am and they still have not started on it :8:

Dan I wish they would let me drive the SS for a loaner that would be sweet or even better yet get them to ship me over an SSR to drive around for a few days...if they did that I would drive to Portland and let you drive it too ;D

Update
Well I am driving my AV again this week they forgot to order the parts and now they are back orderd so they will not have them tell next week well that causes 2 problems 1 I have to drive around with a stupit "service Engine Soon" light on and 2 we are leaving for canada next week and we now have to take my dad's van which mean instead of being AV-less for 3-5 days I have to be Av-less for 10days :6:

You must like big vehicles in your family. An Av and a Suburban! That's a driveway full.

Well here is the sich..

Avalanche-My car I choose it because I do like big cars and I love the looks of the AV and versatility..ect...

Suburban-My Dad's business vehicle he is a funeral director so he needs to carry large familys around ect..

He's not the only one! My dad drives a 99 Suburban. I drive a 02 Av. My grandfather (who lives with us) drives a 99 Suburban. Plus my old truck, 98 Sonoma, which I've convinced my dad to keep. Then the cars my mom's 98 Volvo S90 and my dad's toy..83 280 ZX Turbo. Now that's a lot of metal!

SSR... Yes.... SSR

BTW... slept with the brochure you gave me. ;)

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!

thought about it though ;D

Lets See 2 more years of my AV payment $595.00
I could get a 3rd job and pay the payment on the SSR of $780.00 for 60mo @ 0% APR hummm the only part I don't like is the 3rd job part

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ;D (y) ;D  ;D :)

Ohh yeah today the service guy comes in and said "Lance we got those parts in for you" I said yes, that is great news so they took my AV apart and put the new sensors in no problem. In fact, it was easier than they thought so they only had it for today. Well I noticed my AV seems to have more power again and is running great I am soo happy that they got it fixed. So, I can take my car on our family Vacation >:D

;D ;DThere you go!!! (y) (y)

Glad to hear you're up and running..... are you back in business to take the AV to Canada?

Well if I can get my parents to let me they are like "the van might be more comfortable" but I think I about have them convinced to take my car (y)

Dang, I am trying to figure out how an 18yr old can afford an AV! I am 27 with a good job, and a wife that is an engineer and I can barely afford the thing! :E:

Lance works two jobs to be able to make his AV payment. He just so happens to work at the dealership too... ;)

flynhigh is right on the money I work 2 jobs to pay for it and my dad pays my insurance long as I don't get a ticket

That is cool man... I wish I had been so inclinded to work hard when I was 18... I wouldn't owe so much college $$$$ now if I had worked harder...

It is nice to see a responsible "younger" person out there :) (not that I am much older ;) )

Good luck with those jobs, and you better not speed!
