Avalanche 5.3L V8 engine issues- Chevy says "not my problem"

After months of trying to address lifters & camshaft issues, I finally had to break down and have a "reman" engine installed. The cost quotes to repair vs. replace were too close not to take the deep dive. $7000 later I wrote Chevy (again) asking for assistance with my '10 LTZ with 89,000 miles. They politely told me to ______ off, not our problem. Remember that Chevy changed their warranty from 10 yrs/100k miles to 5 yrs/100k miles just prior to 2010. Nice way to sidestep the issue. Who drives their Avalanche 20,000 miles a year?!....unfortunately this will be the last Chevrolet vehicle in my garage, forever.

When you say that you wrote Chevy, is that at the dealer level?
If yes, you will want to escalate the issue to the corporate head office and see if you can get any results there.
If your truck has been maintained properly and you can prove it, I don't see why they would refuse to assist you.
Unless of course, they are trying to chase away customers!

I wrote to the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center in Detroit, so directly to Chevy and got a response directly from them. Have all the service records so I can prove proper maintenance. But nonetheless, their response to my letter was basically a form response...."after careful consideration, bah, blah, blah...". My engine replacement work was done at a Chevrolet dealership (I sent Chevy a copy of the work order/receipt in my letter) and the dealership warned me that Chevy would ignore any request for help. Chevy even said in their letter to me that ..."we will no longer address additional communications on this subject". So, your assumption that they would help..is unfortunately false. I understand there's a class action lawsuit filed in the state of Ohio on related issues to the 5.3 V8 engine and it's not the first that Chevy has had to defend.
