I really don't like to read OK, this website not included. But I do have a favorite author, Clive Cussler. Cussler writes books that combine science, adventure, history, fact and fiction together. His most recent book Valhalla Rising has been out for about 6 months and I've had it about that long but I'm just now getting around to reading it. Anyway... about midway through the book there's this scene where Pitt (the hero), his sidekick and two women have been threatened by this real bad guy at an out-of-the-way restaurant. As they're on their way back into the city the bad guy's goons are chasing Pitt's '38 Packard in a Lincoln Navigator. Expecting something had been up Pitt had called someone on the phone before they left the restaurant. At the climax of the chase and as the bad guys are about to overtake the Packard, 2 Avalanches with roof mounted machine guns pop out of the woods ahead. Trying to evade the Av's, the Navigator ends up loosing control and doing a roll over (now that'll need to be tested) and the good guys get away.
Well, he tells it much better than I do. But I was just thought that was pretty cool, would like to have seen it on a screen though. I haven't finished the book just yet so I don't know if there are any other references in there yet. Just thought I'd share.
By the way, who sells roof mounted machine guns for an Av? Gotta get a couple of those, you know...homeland security!
