GM just reported Avalanche sales were up 40% in June. Sales were up double digits last month too!

This is good.

June '03 sales were 8,647.
June '02 sales were 6,675.

Total company truck sales were up 10% (which is good) but the Avalanche was clearly the leader in terms of percentage sales increase.

May '03: 8,730 units (+31%)
May '02: 6,421

Avalanche sales really started picking up right around mid-April.

Could it be? Why perhaps it could be. What, you say? Could it be that the reason for the increase in sales of Avs is...WBH?! I think so

gm executive just commented on the avalanche sales increase. he mentioned that incentives helped some.

but he also mentioned that the wbh is helping and that gm is seeing greater demand for wbh versions.

btwy- gm had high incentives on the avalanche earlier in the year, but sales were still soft. it seems the wbh may be the catalyst. now the avalanche pleases both cladded and non-cladded fans.

>:DThe AV has evolved. It now walks upright a is capable of independent thought. Just as man has climbed out of the trees, so has the Avalanche shed its cladded ancestors (one day to be seen only in museums). >:D

WBH + a $4000 rebate = $25,000 for a base Avalanche. That is not much more than a V6 Honda Accord or Camry. It is also thousands less than a Tahoe or Suburban.

I like the cladding, as I spend a lot of time on gravel roads. No paint chips.

I'm mean why can't the General come out with a better bumper than that. ?:cautious:

They make over a million of them each year and it does not cost anything to tool up. It is the same bumper as the Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Sierra, and so forth.

up 40% as compared to what?

the number of avalanches sold in june '03 were up +40% compared the number of avalnches sold in june '02.

June '03 sales were 8,647.
June '02 sales were 6,675.

Without the cladding!! I believe it has helped sales, but if you go off-road the cladding is a must. Alot of other companies use this cladding as well - Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Element.. etc .
I would not own an AV unless it has Cladding.... PERIOD!!

I prefer the cladding mainly because I like the rear bumper's steps on each end. If I could have gotten a naked AV with that bumper, I would have had a difficult decision to make, except for the fact that the wife definitely prefers the cladding because without it the AV looks too much like a Silverado.

THANK you...how did this compare versus all of GM and other GM trucks?

that's why they make two versions. so people can by the one they like better. either way, increased demand for the product sounds like a positive for resale values.

not that i'd think about selling my avy anytime soon!
