I need some help, I got a great deal on a roof rack through a private sale but it was missing all 12 of the wellnuts and 2 of the screws :(
So I need these 2 part numbers for the wellnuts and the screws

TIA
Bob

TNAV,

YGMN posted about the install, on one of the pics he posted it looks like there is a part number on the sheet... number is half cut off in the pic... don't know if it will help you or not

MVC-448F.JPG

found that pic in the thread

Look on my website...I have pics...and I think you can read the p/n.....

if not reply back here...and I will dig out the instructions...

I have the install sheet but I do not see part numbers listed (at least on mine) for the 12 wellnuts or the 12 screws ???

I looked at mine...(second ago hehehe) and correct no part numbers

The instruction part number is 12490906...it was 6 pages....but pages 1 and 2 are all you need if you speak English...as the others are for different languages....

You do need 12 wellnuts and 12 bolts....and the well nut installation tool

Soory I could not help more....but maybe the local parts place could help or the body shop....

Thanks gearheads78 and gse115 for your assistance (y)
Today I had the dealer install my roof rack for me ( I was just a tad bit nervous about drilling 12 holes in my roof  ) and it looks great :)
but the kit did not come with the 4 roof slats that go on the 4 ridges on the AV's roof :(
Does anyone have the part number for those 4 rubber slats?

TIA
Bob

I still have mine as I never put them on....

If ya want em....pay shipping and they yours...but be forwarned....the plastic that protects the sticky stuff...is off about everywhere...so you would have to remove original sticky stuff....clean...install new sticky stuff....

For me...it looks better withour them

I put a few of these on, including the one that came with my AV. My dealer didn't want to install it, and since we are in the autobody business, it was not a big deal. The factory unit that is sent with the AV has the center strips. The one you order from the dealer afterwards does not come with the strips. I have not been successful getting a part number for these strips, or for the threaded fasteners, from any GM dealer. However, the center strips are nothing more than a black vinyl molding available from any auto parts store. The threaded "nutserts", are available from most any autobody supply store, marine store, or autobody shop. They are used for fastening mirrors, roofracks, spoilers, boat bow rails and accessories. The trick is to have the right tool to make the job easier. I also noticed the template for drilling is not accurate. I simply put the roof rack together, placed 2' masking tape at the area the rack would sit, then put it in place on the roof, measured from side to side, front and back to be sure it is evenly spaced. Then mark through the holes in the assembled roof rack, onto the masking tape. After removing the rack, you can clearly see where the holes need to be drilled. A good point GM makes is to put some kind of limiter on the drill bit so it does not go through the headliner. I use a dowel, with the hole in the dowel, a bit bigger than the drill bit I am using. This way I can hold the dowel while drilling to avoid any drill walking.

I have an '02 parts list that shows several parts, but not much detail for the Avalanche luggage rack. It shows rails (crossrail, R side rail, L side rail), bolt, nut, Slat, Rail cover (R and L.)

The picture clearly shows an exploded view with a side rail and end cap, a cross rail, and a slat. From the picture, it looks like the slat is on the roof, parallel to, but several inches inboard from where the side rail mounts. Now, this may just be an illusion and it is really part of the side rail (maybe some sort of insert,) but it looks like the slat might just be the rubber strips that go on the roof between the rails.

The R&R instructions in the shop manual make no reference to slats, the rubber roof strips, or to any other insert or part of the rails. So maybe the slat really is the rubber roof strip?

If that is the case, the slats are part number 15056821 and lists for $5.30 (2002 prices, and I would assume each.) The part number is hard to read on my copy, but the 6 might be a 5 (15055821)

The picture does not show where the nuts and bolts go, or what they are used for, but if they are the wellnuts and the associated bolts, it lists the parts as:
  • bolt - 15004473, $3.60
  • nut - 15685099, $.77
And just to be complete, the other parts are:
  • Rail, crossrail - 15748100, $64.20
  • Rail, side R - 15098766, no price
  • Rail, side L - no number, no price
  • Rail cover R - 15751314, $20.80
  • Rail cover L - 15751315, $20.80
If anyone is planning on ordering any of these parts, please don't trust me and please do verify the part numbers with the dealer/distributor before ordering. Also, prices are alaways subject to change (usually up) and even part numbers can change or be superseeded from time to time. Finally, it is not clear that the slats, nuts, and bolts are really the parts I think that they might be. Procede at your own risk. Do not fold/spindle/mutilate. May be habit forming. Keep out of reach of children.
