Avalanche Sales Plummet In January 2003

I'm going to have to venture and say ...that auto sales in general have been down lately...I don't think there are any automakers right now that are kicking back..in the shade saying to themselves...they got it made....

As far as the Hummer cutting in to the Av sales...I don't think so...your average Joe...doesn't have $50,000 to throw down on one of those bad boys.....compared to what you can pick up an Av base...at...

Looking back at the first post makes it appear that Avalanche experienced an extraordinary decline compared to the whole market. Could this reflect constrained production rather than lower demand? As I understand sales figures, they reflect sales to dealers. Presumably GM "sells" everything it makes. And through allocations it can control demand, or at least its perception thereof. GM could have lowered Avalanche allocations for WBH retooling, or because of excessive warranty expenses, or because dealers really did want fewer.
