Awsome AV With Lift - Why 2wd ???

I know it says that its a 2wd but if I am not mistaken look close at the pics.....isnt it 4wd?

Looks like it to me.

Not a poser at all! People (including me) like the "look" of the lifted Av for its aggressive stance and road commanding position.

Now, that being said, I would not spend the money to lift a 2wd Av, since I go 4 wheeling frequently. I also wouldn't spend the money to paint the cladding, because although I LOVE the look, I'd have it all scratched up in a matter of days!

There's a fellow on here (I can't recall his name) with a lifted Z66.

I just wish I could afford to lift mine!!

I can't see the front differential or transfer case so I am also inclined to believe it to be 2wd.

WhiteAVZ71 . .

What makes you think that it's a 4x4? I couldn't find any obvious 4x4 hardware in the undercarriage shots - but then the shots aren't all that good if that's what you are looking for!

I've seen this page before and asked myself the same question.

I believe the last 4 photos are of the front end and I don't see any evidence of a differential, drive shaft, etc. so I vote 2-wheel drive. I suppose 'poser' might be an appropriate description for this particular Av with that many off-road modifications, but I gotta admit that liftedZ66's truck looks pretty awesome!

No front diff there, just a 2x.

Huge coil-over set up going through the upper A arm to lower control arm, NO 4X here. Don't even see tortion(sp) bars, diff, half shafts .......nothing! Didn't know 2X were 4 corner coil? Is that true?

P-O-S-E-U-R me thinks

Nice new fish Steel!

Any shop in Alaska want to waste some cash.....I could use a lift, tires, rims and they can put a small sticker under my truck! but I'll paint it my self thanks

hey but we can admire some of the components - plus I like those Geolanders (tires), was considering them for my Av before I went with the MT/Rs

I have to say I like what they did with the truck.... I hope who ever drives it, doesn't go playing and reach for the 4x4 button :0:

The other day I was at the local 4x4 shop and I was talking about going off road with my AV, and they commented that at least not all AV's are road queens...

The pictured AV, will have to be a road queen :(

Well, I Must Say, I Wouldn't Do That To A 2 Wheel Drive Truck. :D:

But, I Believe The Truck Has Been Set-up For Baja Type, Road Racing, Lots Of Wheel Travel, Good Traction, And Lighting, a True 4x4 Is Not Really Needed As Long As He Keeps It Between The Ditches.

As Far As The Geolander M/T's Go, I Had Them On My Dodge Ram 2500 V10, And They Were GREAT, They Handled Excellent And Were Even Quite On The Road. They Also Had Good Sand, Mud, Rock And Wet Grass Traction And Even Better Water Displacement, (Very Important on The Texas Gulf Coast). The Only BAD Thing Was They Were Shot After About 26,000 Miles.

That's, My $.02 Worth, Plus Some I Think,

My lift was more of an afterthought. When i bought my Av it was just going to be my wifes daily driver. Then things changed. Knowing then what i know now i would have gone with the Z-71. But it's easier to lift what i got rather than trying to trade up. But what i wouldn't trade for now is the response i've gotten after it was lifted. People are just in awe when they see this thing. So the fun factor just went way up. the Dave

It's a great looking truck Lifted! Just out of curiosity, is it the same kit for 2wd from Fabtech? Was it any less expensive, not having to deal with the front diff?

well Blackz71 Reminded of something that I forgotten, From my youth I allways loved pre runners. A fact that I had not conciderd When posting befour. Number 2 Is to never bash on an AV owner. I aim now to make a general a** of only myself. And only hope by my follies you all get to smile....

Now if that nice little black truck had 4X, Blueruck and AJ would have more componey to the handfull Of truly insane >:D >:D

I hope I didn't P%## you of Lifted Z. I think your truck looks fantastic. Yours was a tuff spot to be in; take a beating trading in on a brand new truck, or lift the one you already have and love. All that matters is whether you like it and it does what you want! ;)

no offense taken guys. Just replying to the post. I wanted to be different and by lifting it, it really gets noticed. To answer Crexis' question. The lift that is on my 66 is actually for the 71. There was just a couple of pieces left over. And there is no price difference either. It sure doesn't hurt owning an off-road shop too!!!!
If i can help anyone else just let me know. the Dave

Dave (LiftedZ-66) is my new best friend. He and Jason Pendlum ?>:D

Get in line jackalanche. He can be your best friend after he does my 3/5 drop next month ;D

Yeah, If you ask me, a lifted 4x2 is a pre-runner... Something set up to run the desert at a high rate of speed. ?Those coil overs up front are great for that type of driving...

From what I've head, a 4x2 with a good locker will go further offroad than a open/open 4x4... (EDIT: In certain situations of course) and possibly further than our open/G80'd 4x4's. (don't get me started about the Eaton mechanical locker!)

The reason beeeinnngg: ?say you you've got the truck in a funny position, where a wheel at each corner is light. ?(okay, not that funny of a position for a serious off roader) ?All power will go to those two wheels once they slip. ?In a locked axle, one of the wheels on that particular axle could be up in the air - as long as the other one is touching, you're going to have traction. ? :)

All very true marc! ?Of course, the best bet is to have a 4X4 with a locker in front or front and back (My dream!)... so Dave does your shop do gear work too?

;)
