Bad Shock Symptoms?

Hey guys...

I think I have a Bilstein signing off on me.

I know a few of you have come across bad shocks. What are the symptoms?

What I'm seeing:

-The truck never EVER sits or drives level. Most of the inconsistancy comes from the drivers front. It's either low or high when I park. It's not extremely noticeable, but noticeable enough. Camber changes in the road make the truck feel like it flops to one side or the other.

-The bounce test: The passenger front, and drivers rear are both hard to get bouncing. The drivers front and passenger rear are easier, with the drivers front being the easiest, with about 6-8 more bounces when I let off.

-I can hear a faint hiss from the shocks when I bouce the corners of the truck. All except for the driver front. It's quiet.

How easy is it going to be to convince my dealer that it's bad?

When shocks go bad.............................

Sounds like a TV show ;D ;D ;D

but seriously....jump up and down on vehicle then quickly jump off...if vehicle keeps on bouncing then definately bad shock.........

Springs keep vehicle height and hold the load where as shocks cushion the movement of vehicle and dampen these movements out...

I would think that all you would have to do is repeat what you just said.

That should do it. It sounds rather clear-cut to me.

If a corner of the vehicle bounces 6-8 times after you quit bouncing it, I don't think the dealer will give you any problems! ;D

I guess a sticking shock could cause the truck not to sit level - the rest of you're symptoms are a slam dunk - bad shock. ?Get the shock swapped and see what happens to the 'levelness' or you truck.
