What the-?! New '04 Avalanche 1500, 542 mi. Just ran my first load (1400 lbs). When I got to drop-off, I got out and went to work. Next thing I notice, there is a yellow "cone" of some kind layin on the ground just north of the right rear wheel. Looks like a beehive. Says BASF 19 then 15200990. I am guessing it got pushed through the springs (or shocks?) with the load, then when the load eased up, it popped on out. Actually...they. I pulled forward and the girlfriend said "here's another one". What the heck?! Any help 'preciated, thanks.
hey guys. thanks much for the prompt replies. i've worked in and with others' trucks for long time, but this is the first one i've owned, so pls pardon the ignorance... but: bump stop? what the heck is that? and, how could they be "springs" - made of rubber, and that look like the michelin man-??! and what in the heck are they doing, falling out/off of a brand new chevy-?!
enkeiavalanche: thanks. makes sense, and learned something.
man o man - did i screw up or what? i just checked the OM and it says the "combined weight for cargo and passengers should not exceed 1085 lbs" -??! i got this huge truck, supposedly a best buy, and i can't haul 1400 lbs in the dang thing?!
airwolf, and all: thanks. just classic case of user error i s'pose. not usin' the ol' noggin'. hopefully didn't do anything but pop the bump stoppers. nothing else visible that i can see under truck. i s'pose i'll find out when i call the service dept. tomorrow.
any further thoughts welcome. thanks again for the kind reception.
