Bed Cover Panel Warped?

If I am looking from the cab towad the tailgate the last bed cover panel nearest the tailgate is level with the tailgate on the ends and about a half inch lower in the middle. Should this be addressed or is it normal? Concerned that it will allow too much rain into the bed.

Currently, when it rains I have to take out the rubber bed liner to let the water under it evaporate. Should water be getting in to the bed?

I believe that Chief has addressed this issue and it's normal.

I have noticed this too every time I look in the rearview mirror. It's a little annoying, but have noticed no leaking at all into the bed. The moisture under the mat is supposed to be condensation. I figure if you look under there when it hasn't rained in a number of days, you'll still find water. This is normal though and I believe the general consensus is that it won't cause any harm.

Mine was warped too and the dealer ordered 3 new panels for me.

Just take it in and show em. They usually work with ya.

May I suggest a search for "warp panel"....a long thread should appear....

Tony,

Check the panel with a good board or a level to ensure it is low in the center. It should be raised. My dealer replaced #3 and recently replaced #2. #2 was stained (bird dropping) when delivered.

Aloha,

All three Bed Covers on my Avalanche were faded and the rubber seals around them would fall off every time I removed the bed covers to be placed into the bag - it was replaced too after ripping along one side!
However, after repeated trips to dealer and the truck visiting the detailer, they agreed to replace under warranty!

First of all, I would like to say "HI" to everyone here. This is a great place to share experiences with our trucks.
My #1 and #3 panels are bowing down at the midgate and tailgate. My dealer is getting a rep. to come in and look at it. They are giving me a car for the day so that I am not too inconvenienced. I drop it off on Mon.
I also had an issue with the heater in my pass. side mirror not working. I called to tell them about it and set up an appointment to look at it, but they just ordered a new one without even looking at it. I thought that was great. (y)

Again HI to everyone. Love the CAFCNA ;D

So what happened with your panels? My third one is sagging slightly so when I had my rear window ordered, I asked them to order it as well. The service manager, parts manager? not sure, said he'd have to check w/gm first. Just wondering, I have 28,000 miles now and want to make sure everything is kosher before my warranty is out. :B:

Well Ambalanche, They had my AV for a whole day, had the GM rep check it out, and after calling 4 times to find out what was going on, I was told that this was "normal" so nothing is happening with them. What is "normal"? How far do they have to sag before they will be replaced? I don't know.
All I can say is, at least they don't leak. (now they probably will)
