Avy Bros and Broettes, I’m planning to add a rack system on my newly acquired 2013 Z71. I’ve looked at other mods on the forum but didn’t see any with a slide track system.

Just bought a used set of 4 Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars that are comparable with the t track system. Planning on aligning track on bed panels and drilling pilot holes. Then cutting down track system to fit independently on each panel so they can still be removed. Will be left with an adjustable rack system on the covers that should be pretty cool.
Thoughts? Anyone done this? Will upload picture as project progresses. Still sourcing some parts.

Anyone have advice on mounting tracks through panels? I’m leaning toward through bolting to ensure they don’t pull out.

Sounds like an interesting project. measure thrice and drill once is all I can really say. That, and keep in mind any desire to keep the bed free of water. Though bolting with washers would be the safest way for sure, but i'd be using some sort of sealing washer or standard washers with sealant applied in order to help keep water from leaking into the bed area and prevent water from wicking down the bolts and corroding them inside the panels. I'm not sure what they're made of, but im sure trapping water inside them isn't great either.

You will also want to keep in mind that you will want to have gaps in the sections large enough to let the panels be angled outwards for removal.

some in the past used one of those rack companies and they make towers for the side mount and connected them to the side edges of the panels without drilling they clamped on I think.

I cannot remember name but the popular rack peeps...
