i know the bed slide is a really popular mod on here, but it was personally more than i needed. i never have that much stuff in my bed, that i needed access to things packed in the front. i just needed to section off the area at the tailgate, to keep things from making it to the front.
at first i cut a 2x10 to length and slid it into the slot already in the bed sides. but that slot is WAY to close to the tailgate in my opinion. so i wanted to move it forward. i also wanted it to be able to be removed, without having to remove the first bed cover. my solution was to cut the bed divider shorter to fit between the bed sides, instead of into the grooves. then i made two "legs" that fit into the slot in the bed side. the leg has a slot half way though it, that slips over the divider itself, which has a slot half way through itself also. so the top of all the boards fit flush. (as seen below) Plus, since the 3 pieces just fit together like a puzzle, it can be pulled apart and sit flat if i needed bed space. heck, i may be able to snake the whole thing into a saddlebag.
i will eventually cut some material out of the main board to lighten it up and make it more aesthetically pleasing. will most likely make it match the one from my Colorado. (also seen below)
i know this isnt for everyone, but wanted to share it in case anybody else was after a similar solution.
