Starting this topic as I went back through and could not find info I was looking for.
I am wanting to find out what different bed slide-outs there are. From reading the posts I gather there are singles and splits where you can slide out one side or the other.
I live in Canada and will need to determine what ones can be purchased up here. Please post the names of any models that you know that fit the Av. Thank you.

I hooked up with the Jotto company and can get their Cargo Slides for a good price. I like it because it allows the "split" function, and I can remove it faster than it takes to get it out of the box they ship it in! Are you near Detroit? I might be able to help you out with a good deal...Let me know! ;D

Myself and others are very happy with the BedSlide XL. A quick search of "bedslide" should find a lot of dicsussion.

What's the difference between the Bedslide and the Bedslide XL other than the extra $140 for the model that fits an Avalanche?

It fits the Avalanche/EXT perfectly.

But the big difference is no-hole installation. If you loook at the site, you can find the installation instructions for the XL and the regular model.

To install the XL, you remove the two lower tie-down bolts near the midgate. Place the supplied bracket under the bolt and tighten it back up. Then the frame of the slide bolts to this bracket. No holes, no permanent modifications. If you want, you can take it out and the truck would be back to the way you started. The only tools I needed were a Torx T-60 driver bit, and a couple of open end wrenches (1/2 and 9/16 if I recall correctly.)

With the regular model, you must drill two large holes in the front wall of the bed, down near the floor. Then pins on the front of the frame slide into these holes. Finally, drill a couple of more holes down through the floor of the bed and bolt the frame down.

This drilling method won't work with the Av, since it would require drilling holes in the midgate. Not only would I not want the path for water to enter, with the pins of the frame sticking through the midgate, I don't think you'd be able to open it. And if you could open the midgate, then there would be nothing holding down the front of the bedslide, and it would tip out as soon as you slid it out.

In my mind, the extra $$$ dollars are well worth it for the superior installation, and the perfect fit.

Everything Shapeshifter says is true. The Bedslide is WELL worth the extra few bucks.

I tried searching the internet multiple ways and could not find anything for Jotto. Might they go by another trade name?

The Jotto slide does look interesting. One thing to keep in mind is that the dual Jotto slides are rated for 250 lbs each -- 500 lbs total. The single drawer BedSlide is rated at 1000 lbs, which is basically the capacity of the 1/2 ton 1500 Av. The Jotto slide is only half that.

THanks, I found Jotto Desk, took me to their desks. When I click on home page, Kaboom.
So thanks
I just had trouble getting to their page, maybe they're having server problems. The direct page to the avalanche slide is here.

Hope it helps.

Good info on slideouts here...I just found that the Cargo slides work for what I need. 500# is adequate, and I really liked the ease of installation/removal when I needed it. My price is $400 + shipping, depends on qty, and to Detroit its about $50. So cost was an important issue too!

I've got one and it works great for me. Don't go by the price listed on their website. I bought mine from a local dealer for $642.00 out the door.

We do alot of camping and the bedslide makes it easy to get at all our stuff. :B:

I bought my bedslide from a site member this past Friday night. And I LOVE IT. I recommend it to just about anybody.

I've had a Bedslide in my Av for almost a year and love it. Mine gets very heavy use, hauling big game animals and such and it works wonderfully.

I've made a couple of modifications that are easy and inexpensive. The first is a pair of handles, which make opening in the nose-down or nose-up positions a bit easier. The second modification is I put plywood (?-inch Siberian 9-ply) on the sides and rear to keep stuff from tipping off the drawer.

The Bedslide is very heavy-duty and is rated for 1200 pounds. Go for it.

IF you take a look we have a special group purchase on the Cargo Pro. It is made by the manufacturer that produces most of the plastic parts in the cargo area of the Av.

This unit is just like the Bedslide except it weighs less is maintenance free and wont rust like the bedslide. There is no wood and it has a bedliner tye tub that matches the inside of the Avs cargo area.

Here is the link for the information and the thread. Take a look.
Duakon Cargo Pro Group Buy

I looked into it and decided against it. ?So here are some things to consider:
More money
Constant extra weight
Loss of a few inches of height
Interferes with the panel storage bag
Do you really need it (I went with cargo bar and net)?
Sure it is removable, but after 3 times it will probably either stay in or out.
But if you need it, then go for it...

I've decided to get the Durakon CargoPro. Some factors that went into my decision BlackAv mentioned above, but a few others that made my decision ....

1) The BedSlide weighs in @ 200+ lbs, the Duraliner weighs in around 80 lbs. This is less than half the weight to carry around, should be easier to handle sliding in/out and remove entirely when desired.

2) I believe the loss of height (~3-4"), will be more than offset when I get "total" access to the entire bed i.e. I don't have to remove panels or crawl inside to get to something that is all the way forward.

3) The Bedslide weight is due mostly to the steel & plywood construction. Up here in the Pacific NW, the fact that the bed isn't truly air tight means inviting mildew and rust.

The primary advantage I saw to the BEDSlide version is that it it carries more weight, but for what I need this is not really a factor.

There is also one other factor in favor of the CargoPro: the liner is shaped like a tub, which according to one of the CAFCNA regulars is perfect for filling up with pudding and the like, but that is another discussion thread..... :)

Who said that? Hehe >:D

Oh, yeah, I left out the part about wearing CAFCNA thong underwear while in the tub, filled with pudding....

I'm sorry . . . what was the subject of this thread again?
;)

I think that is reason enough why I bought my beslide. That and it was CHEAP!!!

The cargoPRo actually can support the same 1000lbs as the bedslide it is underrated because they dont want you to have pudding parties in the tub.

I'm curious where you got these numbers...

I can't believe that the BedSlide weighs that much. I was able to install it all by myself, and it wasn't much of a struggle. Admittedly, I removed the sliding platform from the stationary tray, in order to make it lighter. Still, the two pieces couldn't have been anyhere near 100 pounds each. I would've really been struggling if that were so.

I was under the impression that the installed BedSlide weight (not including the shipping materials) was more like 100 pounds, but I could be wrong on that number.

Either way, I do believe that the BedSlide is somewhat heavier than the CargoPro, but I just can't believe that it's more than twice the weight.

Anybody know this number for sure? I just can't be that strong!
