dose anyone out there know if they make a nice good quality aftermarket retractable bed cover for the avalanche.I'm tired of messing with that 3 piece cover
 
I want one that retracts like the reg. truck bed ones do, but dos'nt interfer with the mid gate or it easily sides back on a rail so I can remove it to use the mid gate.

Checked their website and it looks like the system works with the midgate function without obstructing the midgate. hope their out in pruduction soon the youtube note says june 2007 . Lets hope.
 
they need to do something about those huge arms that stay there when the cover is on...idk if u can see it well on that vid but look on another (at the right on the youtube site)...the 2 arms that move it up stay there always.
 
I don't think the arms would bother  me . they are black. It kind of looks cool . At least people can see hat there is something else. something mechanical.  Maybe they come in body color? I wonder if you could mount a LCD under the front panel and leave it half way up. That would be cool. Or put some light on the arm or the panel so it looks cooler when the panels are up. cant wait to see more.
 
Wow, I really like that.  Add a remote, stick some lights under the rearmost panel, and tell me where to get it!

As far as I know that is a soft powered cover. It also obstructs the midgate. The coolest thing on the avalanche is that it has hard covers, even though they are not powered. At least not yet.
I saw in the  "sportsman year"  magazine that you can take orders for the powered one shown on Youtube.
 
I went to the link  shown on you tube again, and it looks like they uptated the website a little and that they are planning to sell these powered tonneaus sometime in june.
 
Neat video.  Next thing the guy needs to do though is Gatorback.
 
I guess we need to find out, if they need it. I don't know what kind of coating they use.

are your panels faded? I don't see it in your signature, what year av do you have?
 
I have a 2002  4x4 Avalanche and the covers are such a pain to tke off, and I use the bed a lot, that I took them off. So I have not checked how faded they are.
