BedSlide/Bed Organizer built my way.

Thanks folks it makes life easier for me.

You can make one in different configurations to suite your needs. Say you are a contractor and carry a lot of tools maybe a double decker.  :D

I had limitations the golf bag is 10 inches wide so the inside height had to be that and I had the bed panel anti sag device installed.

I forgot to mention the right side tops are supported by angle aluminum(cheap) and corner braces.

Well after all this time I decided to put the slide on a diet it was just too heavy for me to remove by myself. So I cut the sides down to 6 inches and removed to tops altogether. Now it's way lighter.

Sometimes mods are good in your mind, but just not practical in real life.

When you started this project I was inspired to copy it, but never did put the top piece on --I used rollers on the bottom as I could find the full length rollers slide bars to attach to the side so mine has the rollers on the bottom but does not work great now. I used to be able to pull it out and push it back in but the rollers about shot and so am I,ha At 80 years of age my strength is just not there. I plan on doing a search for the side mount slides --I love my Avy (2003 WBH 1500) and carry a lot of tools and a floor jack ,tire tools and impact tool but I don't know why as I doubt I could change a tire now if I had to. Three back surgeries and a spinal simulator has slowed me down a lot- but I still dream,ha.

I'm a bit behind you age wise, but it was weighing over 300 pounds with the top on. I weigh about half of that and it was a struggle getting it out and in. I still have to put the white edging back on and make so new front doors on it.

Yea I weigh 156 lbs but I hauled and delivered freight for 34 years so I was in good shape then but things seem to go downhill in a hurry,ha

take it out if you cannot handle weight of stuff you put on it s then you might gain 1-2 mpg just due to not hauling around all that extra weight.

The ride quality is better with a couple of hundred pounds in the back.
Empty a 2500 tends to bounce around when you brake hard or hit a big bump in the road.

But the Bilstein shocks do help with the problem.

Yes you are correct but my Grandson has solved the problem and has agreed to take the Avy. I offered to give it to him and he has accepted it. So one less worry.

Good for you keeping the avy going and in the family...and I was talking about weight in the back to you since you have a 1500 and gas is expensive

I wish $4.00 a gallon.. $5.25 at the quicky mart and over $6.00 at Chevron. Usually fill up at Costco or Sam's Club for somewhere in between...

I bet that EV is sounding better now, if you are concerned about gas mileage and prices.

It's something you have deal with since it happens every 4 years or so. >:D

Why do owners always get worried when gas prices go up and only focus on pump prices not total cost of ownership?
You need to look at things like purchase price (new Silverado gas version v. EV version, full dress probably $50,000 v. $105,000) Then maintenance costs for oil, plugs and standard battery v. replace battery pack in EV (we have seen where in a Tesla it can run $25,000)
So for me it would be after 5-10 years of ownership how many miles would you have to drive a year to recover the double price of purchase and mega expense of replacing the battery?
I never bought a Suburban or Av as a gas economy vehicle, I bought it for comfort and performing the task I needed them for overall.

Raidmagic I think it was the wood hardener I put on it because the bed itself is not waterproof.

I made a little progress now that things have slowed down a bit spring is always busy for me.
