Need some help. I am trying to decide between purchasing a new Bedslide or making my own EZslide. I carry 3, 100+ dogs in back of the Avalanche. My concern is floor stability. Once the dogs are in back, I don't want the floor shifing on them! :7:
Does Bedslide lock in place once it is closed in the bed? I would think Ezslide shifts from side to side and back and forth depending on how tight you made the fit. What is everyone's experience? Do the EZslides present enough of a snug fit for me not to be concersned, or should I be looking at different systems. Thanks, Jeff

I have one of the CAFCNA edition bedslide and love it. It does lock in place in the closed position. One thing that I don't like about the bedslide is that it does not extend the whole way up to the midgate. There is about a 4" or so gap between the front of the bedslide and the midgate which dogs could possibly step into and get hurt. I use my AV a lot for camping and the bedslide sure makes loading and unloading a lot easier.

I made mine for $35, I carry about 500lbs of tools on it, and I have no sagging, shifting, sliding, etc. at all. Just make it fit snug, and use the tie down hooks on the lower tailgate end to "lock" it into position. Works like a charm.

The benefit of making one like mine is that you can take it out by yourself in less than a minute. Try that with a bedslide!

if you make the ezslide big enough to be snug it should be fine.

if you carpet the ezslide with outdoor carpet then it seems to snug it up quite a bit (wrapping the carpet around it.) mine doesnt move at all as best i can tell.

the carpet would prolly be appreciated by the pooches too.

442, what is a "CAFCNA edition bedslide"? Can we still get them or was that a group buy done a long time ago? Thanks, Jeff

I used a set of the rubber stoppers that the midgate has on it to take out any play left behind by the latch. When I close the tailgate it pushes up againt the rubber stoppers and holds the slide right up against the midgate.

Yes, it was a limited edition group buy early last year.
They had special decals attached.
I don't think they are available anymore ???

edit:
I found it - click here.

It is still available I just got my last week and I love it (y) I don't think the link is still there but you could call them @ 888-807-0099 and ask for model # CAFCNA Limited IFW3050XL $699.00 with free shipping

04JTW,

I made mine and it cost me about $40.00....Not only does it fit snug, I also carry a large dog in the back. My Rottie weighs in at 150+ lbs and I feel very secure knowing he's not sliding around back there....I have my textured also.

Very easy to make!!!

If you have 100lb dogs, you may also wnat to think about head room as they do take up 3-4"

Butch,

I don't think there is any way to get a 100lb dog into the corgo unit without taking off the panels....Unless their laying down!!!...3-4" won't make a bit of difference with a 100lb dog....It just seems to me they would be a little cramped in there.

Thanks all, especially you Goldbowtie and Elkhunter. The special edition is still for sale, I just used the link you provided and ordered one. I think I could have got it a little cheaper from ebay but then I would have to have it shipped to a business address. I figured the special edition also has the rubber mat in addition to the carpet. With the addition of bedslide, this will pretty much finish my mods (at least for a little while) ;)

I made one a little different... I placed a piece of sintra (1/8 in thin plastic...smooth)on the matt and made a frame to pull out the contents of the bed, which slides on the sintra... Didn't loose any height except for the 1/8 inch....lol For your dogs you could put a carpet in the center...

and it slid fine.

I want to make my own slide because I am way too cheap to be paying 500 or 600 bucks for it. But I need details and pics. Who gotz????

What prevents the cab side of the slide from tilting up when the tailgate side is loaded and pulled out?

What kind of rollers are being used?

How does it lock in place when extended, rather than just pulling right out of the rig and hitting the ground?

I can follow directions but I have no creativity. Someone gotta help the Hound!
