As only GandyQ knows, I was given the daunting task of smoking 10 racks of baby backs 2 weekends ago and last weekend.  Thanks to GandyQ and some pretty savvy instructions (suggestions) I was able to smoke them with no problem.  Problem was I smoked them from 6PM through 5 in the morning, needless to say I was a tired boy.  That's right, 11 hours for these bad boys.  And I only had a regular side box smoker.  Everyone that came into town that morning had a very very nice surprise waiting for them.  Yep, hot off the grill ribs and other breakfast foodstuffs waiting for them upon their arrival.  These bad boys had a wonderful crust but man, very juicy on the inside.  Last weekend my bro in law and my wife had birthdays so they requested I make some more and they came out great also.

Now to the problem.  I want something now that I can take with me wherever I go.  Like a smoker on a trailer.........yep, saw prices today.  Anyone good at welding??  I know I'll have to save up for a while but I actually enjoyed tooling around with the air and how much smoke to allow, etc.  Now I know why GandyQ loves Q so much!!  Until now I would only tool around with carne asada, maybe a chicken or two but not on a larger scale like the last couple of weeks.

Oh and sorry guys for being pretty much MIA the past few weeks.  Boss has me on lockdown from the computer!~~

Here's a not so very good pic of a couple of the racks around 3 or 4 in the morning.

ahahahaha, funny.  :needhug:  Something's wrong with my computer, I can't add pics.  Guess I'll have 2 wait until I fix it.

Smoke is where it's at man.  I've got pictures

First time I smoked ribs, 10 racks of baby backs, rubbed with a secret mix of spices I just threw together.  Had to fight them of with a stick. Man they were good.  We froze them and had them through the  winter.

Next the turkey, brined for 24 hours with garlic, ginger, apple, oranges and more, than smoked low for 12 hours.  First time in year I had seconds of turkey amd next daysI was caught eating cold turkey.

I want to try smoking a brisket next.

Uh, what?? Is that how big is the smoker?
No.

How large of a flat area does the smoker need when setting on the ground?

Is it two feet deep by four feet wide?

Please insert a link to a photo of the smoker.

yndio,

I had an idea once to carry the Super-Duper Chicken Cooker external of the AV.

Give me a call.

Do you have the name and type of grill so I can see what it looks like?

I guess you'll be bringing the big one along with you to the Third Annual Bratfest next year, right?  >:D

You did not call...

I will use my crystal ball...

What I think would work is one of the hitch carriers with washers, J-bolts and wing nuts used to secure the smoker to the carrier.

When you get to the GTG, un-do the j-bolts and get your smoke on.

sorry bro, boss watchin' me like a hawk so couldn't call ya.  Looks good, but the one bad thing is the smoker is HEAAAAVY as heck.  This isn't made with the regular thin metal it is very thick.  Must be at least 10 years old I think.  Maybe get a small trailer and do as you say  but without the legs??

But will Yndio's back hold that?

Yea, who's gonna help me put the hitch thing on with that bad boy on?? No wheels or anything to support it, it will be a task. Great idea though!!

You have to rig up some sort pulley system on the back of the Av to get that smoker up and down on your rack by yourself.  I don't think that little bity wife of yours is gonna be able to lift her side of the smoker Yndio.

Naww, would rather rig up some sort of trailer for it and be done with it.  Still, would love to have the one I showed y'all.  Gonna have to start saving the pennies.
On a side note, you'd be surprised Fouse, she's freakishly strong!!!

So is Amy.? What's up with the skinny girls being strong.? I like skinny girls so that I stay stronger than my girl but sometimes I wonder. hehe

Go to that Cargo Largo place or I can't remember the name of this place but I can tell you how to get there.? Take I-70 to Noland, then take that South until you see the Fuddruckers on the West side.? Turn into that parking lot and go to the shopping strip plaza on the North side of that parking lot.? It's striaght across from Side Pockets of Independence.? The tool shop is right in the middle of the strip plaza.? They sell little trailers in there that you have to assemble but they are not hard at all.? They are pretty good little trailers.? A friend of mine bought one to haul his bike on to North Dakota (that's where his parents live) and planned to get a good one when he got back but has kept that trailer for 4 or 5 years now without a problem one.? He has moved with it, moved other people, taken his bike to North Dakota multiple time, Sturgis 3 times, everywhere.? It's a good little trailer for the $100 or $200 he paid for it.? I know it was cheap.? He was seriously planning on using it just that once.? The name is right on the tip of my tongue but I can't think of it.? Does anyone else know?? I will post it when I remember it.? I can feel it coming to me.?
