A friend of mine has 20s on his Avalanche but his tire size is only 275/45R20.  He's needing new tires and was wanting to get something bigger.  I told him that I would find out what the best size is for 20s.  He was looking at the 275/55R20 and I recommended the 285/50 but when I checked the tire calculator the 285/50's height was a little shorter than the stock 265/70/17.  The calculator showed that the 295/50/20 is the exact size.  Does anyone make this size.  How about the 305/50/20?  Would that be too big.

Chevy recommends 275/55R20. I run LT285R20's on a 2005 Z71. Don't know if your friend has a 4WD Avalanche, guessing not running the 45 sidewall. Maybe some 2WD folks can answer whether a 305/50 will fit.

I run the 275/55R20 with no rubbing at all. Some want a lower profile, they may rub a little....

Before I lifted my Av, I was running 305/50R20's with only slight rubbing on my cladded Av.  It was not enough of a rub to even worry about trimming the wheel wells, and looked great!

I got some 295/50's from the tirerack.com and they fit fine. I got them for $130.00 before shipping, and they look good. They are quite, V rated, & directional ( so you can't rotate from side to side - just front to back).

My truck is lowered 2/2.5 using a "Ground Force" kit

I've had 285/55/20s and now I have 305/50/20s and I think the 305s are a much better fit and look.

i have 305/50/20's... trimmed the rear wheel wells a bit on a long trip with the bed fully loaded...it was rubbing with the heavy load... didnt rub at all with an empty bed.

btw, love the looks of the 305's too (y)

305/50/20 here too, even with the 2" rear drop it doesn't rub, it did at first but the tires sanded off the part that was rubbing, now all is good.

I run w/ 285/50/20  >:D
thats the size I had on mine.  They are a lil off from stock size.  Seems like it was 1.2% off in speed.  no rubbing at stock height.  It seems to be a fairly common size when ordering, which makes them reasonable in cost.

I run 305/50's as well.? it gives it a mean stance from the front and back view.? no rubbing on the WBH.? i like it a lot, that is what I would go with.? anything smaller and you will have a lot of wheel well exposed unless you put the 2" drop on it.

I just put Hankook Ventus 275/55/R20 yesterday, the shop has 50# air , that seems a little high to me , what  pressure do you run yours at ???

I've got that 295/50/20 size on my 07. I wanted some Nitto 420S's but they don't make them in that size, so I went with the Hankook Ventus. They look great and haven't had one problem so far. I put them on 12/06. So to answer your ? Hankook Ventus makes that size, and I love mine. Look great and ride great, too.

I know it's an old thread but I reasently got an '03 WBH and I wonder if this wheel/tire combo will fit my truck without rubbing. They are off of a '15+ and are 20x9 with 275/55R20 tires.
