Somebody just came up to me at work and said "Man, that is a big a$$ truck you have there" We spent the next half hour talking about it. ;D

Between "Hey man, that's a big truck!" and "Hey man can you show me that change for a dollar thing!"......If I was to get a dime for all the times I was asked that I would be a lot richer.... :B:

I have yet to be asked to change for anybody :6:

I have been told on many occasions that I had a nice truck though :)

Hav'nt been asked to change for a dollar yet but quite a few poeople have said, "Damn, that's one big a$$ truck".

This raises the question of Ego factor...I don't own an av yet, but when I do, it will likely be the nicest truck (vehicle) in the neighborhood, except for the other guy that owns an av. So will I gain envious friends, or lose friends to envy???

How do you own a vehicle this cool and not let it go to your head?

Most people who ask me "change for a buck?" are just trying to be funny (which they are not). However, I was at a family birthday party on Saturday and this one woman kept asking me over and over. Finally I realized she was serious and converted it for her, to her amazement. Why can't they just say "can you show me how to change the truck" or something simple. It's amazing how much that commercial has affected everyone!

Easy, if you have it, flaunt it and the hell with them - they will get over it. I know that I have the coolest truck in town, not sure what their problem is ;D

BTW, I flunked "sensitivity training", can't imagine why.

;D Do any of you just feel kick a$$ when driving your AV!!

IT might be a big [A]**** truck but it is the easist vechicle that I have cleaned in a long time.......Climb up on the deck to do the roof.......stand on each tire to do the front windshield and also the back deck.........wheel wells are v. large and can be cleaned without stooping..........Very little metal to wax........half of the vehicle is plastic..........get a medium paint brush and your prefered plastic product. Spray it on and use the brush to coat and clean.............when almost dry lightly rub with paper towl...What a pleasure to do clean-up on this truck..........Have a sm. little Buick Reatta that you have to lay on the ground to get to the low stuff.........what a chore to clean this car........Also am an old guy,,,,,,,,,,,63..........yah, we also like the AVALANCHE........................KEN

A bit off topic here, but is this site rated G, PG, PG-13, or R?

Do we (myself included) censor ourselves (i.e. A$$ :-X) due to club rules, or being 'PC' or just plain ol' self regulation?

Just curious.... ???

Any moderators care to comment on the use of 'adult' language?

:B: :B:
I have to agree with dkwatson: this vehicle is EASY to care for. Me and my little ol' microfiber towel can have my Av sparkle in about 1/2 an hour. Roof, back deck, hood, sheetmetal, cladding and wheels and not break a sweat. No stupid eggcrate grille with water pockets to detail, no idiotic mouldings that trap water until you're ready to polish, and no bending over to find the front or rear valance panels that nobody sees anyway. As far as driving the beast, I took mine to NYC ( Canal St. area ) yesterday, and even cabbies think twice before attempting to cut you off. That's a major accomplishment. When I go into the city with my wife's Cherokee it feels like someone painted bullseye's on it. Overall the Av's one great rig.

Actually, ass is not on our censored words list. Certain uses of the word are though. Please don't try and guess. We don't have a rating system but we do have to abide by the Code of Conduct in our Terms of Service that we all agreed to when we registered. Feel free to review it here ... ToS. The only other thing that the Chief has asked us NOT to do is to get into religious or political debates on the board. There are other boards better suited for it.

If any member every sees a POST that they believe might have crossed the lines please feel free to notify the moderators by using the report to moderators link next to each POST.

Thanks and enjoy the site.

Thanks Goo.

I figured it was a golden rule thing. Good rule to follow. I am also very pleased with the civility that is found on this site.

Too bad on that politics thing though...I was REAL curious as to if there were any trends in the political affiliations of Av owners....guess I'll have to stay curious...

My other truck is a 2002 2500HD with an 8100 and a 4:10 gear. I actually feel kind of laid back when relaxing in my AV.

If you go to gm.com and do the math, the av is 2.4" longer than a 2002 Suburban, and 1" wider. So yeah, it's fair to say it IS big.

Not only big - but mean!? I had a grade-school kid tell me today "You have an angry truck". His buddy said "Yeah- the slanted headlights look like they're scowling". I set them straight though - "it's a very nice truck"! I hope they don't have nightmares tonight.

RCinSoCal, you just blew my mind. I honestly thought the AV was a little shorter than the surburban. It seems easy to handle in parking lots and such. I had no idea.
I guess it is the chopped look that made me think it was shorter.....or should i say sportier,,,,,,,,,,,yeah i said sportier. Now that i have got used to the beast i think it is kind of sporty.............ugh in its own way. Not a Carrera, but in its own rightsssssssssssssssssssssss.
Dang, now i will have a complex,,,,,,,,,,a good one though, i am bigger than a surburban.............move over BURB >:D

Although this could go under AV stories, I think it fits here.

A friend got a call to pick up three adults. I offered to drive. When we arrived, there were four adults, plus my friend, and I have bucket seats.

Three adults jumped into the back. The follow was said: WOW, so this is what one of these things looks like; and cool.

An adult gal hopped into the front, sat on the bucket, had her hands out through the sunroof and exclaimed: I used to think these things were ugly.

The Av is bigger than the suburban? WOW... I had no idea. Geeeezz. I used to think that the Suburban was the biggest truck to come out of Chevrolet. Now I know better. ?(y)

BTW you said that the adult gal said that she used to think these things were ugly? :8: Grrrr... she'd better not say that agian! (it's not that she said she used to think the Av was ugly - she called the Av a thing! When I get an Av, it won't be just a "thing". Hmmpth.)

Last night, when my wife and I returned to the parking lot to drive home, we found that a little car had parked too close to the passangers side. They had backed in so that their drivers door had a ton of room but less than 8" to the AV on the passangers' side. So I backed it out enough for my wife to get in.

I noticed that her  had changed to a >:D. Before I could ask why, she said, "I still love the sound of our truck."

Yep, it is a heart warming sound. Gotta love it.

(no coffee cans were used in the making of this event)
