Dougd What are you people doing on the beachs down there

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shootout on Coquina Beach in Bradenton.

EMS said several victims have been airlifted to local hospitals.

Bay News 9's partner, the Bradenton Herald, said there may have been several gunmen involved in the shooting.

The incident is also stalling Easter Sunday traffic, with the sheriff's office saying the Long Boat Key Bridge has been shut down. Traffic is also limited on the Cortez Bridge because of the crime scene.

We drove down to the Salty Dog for lunch that way and there were tons on Hispanic car clubs there. Some spanish radio station (92.5?) was sponsoring some GTG there for them. Lots of low rider and hydralics. Glad we didn't stop like my kid wanted to. There were tons of cops there already around 3:30 and lots of them on horseback. They must have been expecting some kind of trouble. People have gone loco!
 
The news said this has happened for the past 13 years. Same place on Easter Sunday. For 13 years in a row. Thats why so many police were around. When the shooting started police were less than 75 yards away. I guess when gangs want to fight theres noway you can stop them.

you know, after 13 years maybe public officials would begin to sense a pattern and stop holding the easter event.

That sounds like a plan!  I don't guess they would mind if you told the general public that this takes place every year either. 
 
I was suprised to hear it's been going on for that long. I've never heard anything about it before driving by there yesterday and I've lived here forever.
