Does anyone know if the Delphi 145 amp alternator is the same size as the OEM one?
IS it a bolt on replacement, or does it require different mounting brackets

I think it is the same size... I went with the Alt from Ohio Generator
it is rated at 235 amps Here is there # 330-875-6677 ask for Tom or Gus.. Two great guys to deal with.. Tell them Glenn B sent you..

I'm new here and I just put a CS 144 200 amp alt. on my truck, and the factory wiring harness will not plug in. So my battery not charging light flashes on and off. Any help on hardwiring it would be greatly appreciated.

Maddog and/or Kodiakz,
What is the part number of the 145 amp Alternator? Where is the best (cheapest) place to get one??

Kodiakz - what other bolt on options are there short of a new dedicated system or enkei's Ohio Generator solution. I know you expressed concern at our Dave & Busters GTG that some re-wound alternators did not upgrade necessary components and were subject to early failure. It seems that this would be a good place for a discussion of this issue and the associated costs.

Enkeiavalanche - how much did you drop on the Ohio Generator solution??

Enquiring minds want to know......

I get the Ohio job for about $450.00 + shipping not cheap but it has been in my truck for two years. No break downs yet. And thats with a few add ons..

You can call them at 330-875-6677 ask for Tom or Gus

For you guys shopping for a HO Alt, keep in mind that a 240 amp alt is NOT a 240 amp alt constantly, they are rated for peak output usually. This peak will occur while the alt is "hot", meaning spinning at high RPM's usually. It is far easier to build an alt that will produce plenty of output at 5000RPM's but far more challenging to build one that will produce that output at 1000RPM's. Just be sure to ask what the highest AND lowest output are, and at what RPM's they occur, or simply ask for the "hot" and "cold" ratings.

Castle rock, you can use the same method for getting a deal on the part as you did last time @ Burt Chevy. The ho option is a HIGHLY built model. They take a brand new oem delphi unit and rebuild everything in it. It will bolt right on, the plug ins are oem, and it will output a minimum of 200 amps at idle and 240 max. The price is $490 plus shipping. :)
