How is it installed any drilling required ? Is it held on with adhesive? Or does simpley bolt on?
Does it require constant pollishing?

The AMP fuel door is actually a brushed finish, it's not shiney and does not need polishing. It is a bolt on (held with 2 bolts) and some sticky adhesive on the end where there are no bolts (not really necessary in my opinion). No drilling is required, however there may be a very snug fit around the AMP's hinge and the hinge opening from the original door. I had to take some plyers and bend that area a couple of millimeters to get the hinge in there and the door to fit on snugly. No big deal though.
It's quite an eye catcher especially on an AV with a contrasting color (like my black one). Strangely, my 70+ year old mother in law really likes the look of it (I don't know if that's good or bad :cautious: )

No, the GP was over a few weeks ago. It was our intro into adding the fuel doors to our product line.
Don't know if we'll do another GP on these again.

The fuel door installation on the 2003 AV is NOT without missinginstallation instructions. First, removal of existing door is easy. But, here is the rest of the story. The sheet metal bracket where you have to place those clips is NOT straight and must be modified for the clips to be inseted sideways. If you tru to insert them vertically so they cover any portion of the gap space where the billet door bracket goes, it will not fit as the tolerance is a micro meter. Hence, look at the bracket and see where it is curved. Slowly and carefully bend it to straighten out. Then you will need to file down the right edge after straightening because now it is too long for the bottom clip to reach the hole properly. Carefully file the right edge until the clip slips over where the clip closed round is on the right and covers the metal piece you just filed [also covers any sharp edges]. And, before you remove that piece of tape and prepare to install the screws [need #4 allen hex wrench] be sure to remove those two large rubber bumpers on the right side of the gas cap or the billet door will not seal or fit flush. This is an easy job but requires patience. The instructions were woefully weak and impossible to install following them due to the configuration on the gas flange sheet metal. The end result is the reward and you will love the appearance.

The same applies to the 02's. :cautious:

No mention in the instructions on bending sheet metal. Nor the fact that the bolts go on a micro meter at a time, alternating between the two.

Thanks colonelmotox. (y)

It's a little late for me but many will benefit from these added instructions.

Manoman, I wanted to install a billet fuel door on my 02, but for the money the durn thing costs it should slip right in, and I aint monkeying around with sheetmetal to get it to fit.

Forget that crap...........

Mine was extremely easy to install 5 minutes tops. Plus I added a C-Pillar decal to customize it!!
