Bird poop Stain crap spots on paint

Hi Guys!

Just got home from a two week trip. My wife drove my AV a couple of days and a bird crapped on the big black hood! She left it there for two weeks!

I just rinsed with water and of course there's residue...what's my safest way to clean it off?

I've never owned a nice vehicle before and I don't have a clue on how to care for it!

TimMan ???

Dupont #7 Clearcoat Polish. Make sure you get the CLEARCOAT POLISH! They also make a #7 polish, it will scratch your clearcoat. Birds crapped on my Blk Onyx Sierra
all the time, if it was on there for a day or two, the polish almost always does the trick.

For bird bombs use a mixture of distilled water and rubbing alchohol to remove any chemicals from the paint due to the bird bomb. Then wash as usual.

You must clean them up quickly before the acids inthe bomb can attack the clear coat and form etch marks which are actuall little craters in the clear coat.

If you get to a bird bomb quick enough a quick detailer liberally sprayed will also clean them up.

Thanks guys

I'm thinking of washing with "Simple Green" after I get the bird bomb removed. Is this recommended?

I'll then dry with a leaf blower and find some 303 protectant for the cladding, bed panels and the leather interior...does this all sound reasonable?

I do not recomend Simple green on the paint. It has certain chemicals that harm the clear coat. They remove the plasticizers and this makes the clear subject to an early failure. (watch what you use for window washer fluid as well they have the some of the same stuff)

Always wash the paint and cladding with a car wash shampoo without any of those waxes or other things in it.

Dawn can be used once or twice a year to remove old waxes and oils but only do if you need to strip these waxes.

Over the past two weeks, every time I see my Av it has another smathering of white bird droppings. I just can't keep the black Av clean with these birds around. They especially love to sit on the large flat bed cover area and the saddle boxes. Their deposits are all over the bed and down the rear wheel fenders and tailgate.

Is anybody else having this problem, proportional more than any other vehicle? I never had this much of a problem with my minivan, which was parked in the same spot.

I'm just hoping that the birds move out of the area as spring kicks into full swing. If not, maybe it's time to steal all the neighbors bird feeders.

Hey mid...I feel your pain..probably the same dang birds that pelt my Av just making their way down.....let's face it folks we're kinda lucky...if birds had razors tied to their claws we would never leave the house... ;D

I have had many different color of vehicles. And I have had a few black ones as well. I use to ask myself the same question. It seemed the darker the color the more cr*p it attacked. I think now I just noticed it more because of the dark color.

Had to leave my avy parked for a week while away and come back to find that birds had made it their personal litter box. I cleaned it off, but can still see where it was from the right angle. What can I use to get this crap off. No pun intended.

1. Get it off fast, the acid in the "****" will eat through the clearcoat.

2. There lots of great products to do this - check the care and maintenance forum.

3. For revenge go to the bar, order a brewski and read the TGIF thread.

Too late,

It looks like the clearcoat has bit the dust in two places. :8:

Pour some rubbing alcohol on it to neutralize acids....Then clean with QD...then let it sit for a week to see if it goes away...sometimes it will...or your clear was etched..if etched get an abrasive product and remove etching.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is QD?

Quick Detailer ... such as the one from Maguires or Zaino equivalent ;D

Thanks for the info Goo. I was in San Antonio and had river down on the riverwalk. San Antonio is still one of my favorite cities.

OMG!!! I need help!! the wife came home tongiht with some bird crap on the hood. I tried washing it off with Car shampoo and it still left a" shadow" so I then got some trusty ole dawn dishing soap and tried to wash it out, but there is still some type of shadow in the paint.

I don't feel any impression or residue... Please don't tell me the paint on my hood is now permanetly marked :

What if you tried a light coat of car wax? I had some light marks from my Yakima fairing and the wax took it right off.

THis has been discussed before but I can't remember all the tricks.. Most important to remove the bomb as soon as possible. Maybe some Zaino Z5 cleaner/scratch remover will do it?

I tried buffing it out with wax but to no avail. I'll look for something this weekend. Sigh....

You need some kind of paint cleanser.

I cant remember who used to make some....

Call up a detail shop and ask them...they should be able to help.

BFRON IS RIGHT A CLAY BAR WILL TAKE IT OUT. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME AND KEEP THE CLAY WET. ALWAYS WORK THE CLAY THE LENGTH OF YOUR AV. ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH A GLAZE AND THEN WAX. IT SHOULD LOOK BETTER THAN NEW

OK,

I just bought "Mother's California Gold Clay Bar" at lunch today. So I will give it a go either tonight or early tomorrow morning. I will report back the results.

Thanks Peeps!! :D

Bird bombs:

Clean area with alcohol or a QD spray quickly. Finish up with alchol to help conteract the acids in the poop.

When you get home wash truck and let it dry thouroughly.....like a few days...this allows the stuff to evaporate from the paint pores...then wash as usual and follow up with wax/sealant of choice.

Bird bombs will etch your clearcoat if left on too long.
